After watching JW5s interviews and perspective I think he can be the future.
Love Taytay. Love him. But, JW can be the slinger that Payton covets. He’s a smart kid. He just needs the right leadership and coaching to humble him and install that hunger and leadership to be the best. It’s a tough row to hoe, but it’s definitely possible.

Peewee I WILL let Chad boy off the LEASH on you again if you keep it up!

I said from the beginning he would get a chance to start
Lester doesn't believe that so how am I agreeing with him

has it been addressed yet in this thread as to why we are paying Taysom this kind of money. I don't mind that the saints resigned him as they seem to like what he brings to the team but was there any chance that another team was going to sign him? $10 mill a year just seems way beyond his market value. Probably could have just as easily signed him to a 1 year $4 million contract, which he would have been very fortunate to receive. Just seems odd when we have other needs that that cap hit could have been used on.

Y'all asked earlier why Payton would say he will compete for the job
I'm just following the money
Part of that money is from the belief he could be the qb
No way they give him that much just for his current role

Regurgitating everything i've been preaching.

So the Saints are paying Taysom Hill an annual average of $8 million guaranteed and Jameis Winston $1.1 million.
Any questions about who the next starter is in NOLA?

Don't kid yourself. That contract extension wasn't for his gadget role. It was to lock him up as the long-term starting QB and reward him for being a team guy in the process.

It's not that difficult. Clearly the Saints have confidence and a vision in what Hill can do. They're with him every day. They see what goes on at practice and behind closed doors.

"On any play, Taysom can come to the sideline & his finger can be pointed east & west. He's going to be our 2nd-string quarterback, & obviously play a no. of snaps at other positions. There will be another player who will be up on game days, b/c of what we want to do w/Taysom."

Anybody want to cry about about 9.1 mill to the backups next year still??????? Bitches.
No chadboy youve been saying Taysom’s a 16 mill per year player. And you didnt get that his contract is essentially 8 per year. Dumb arse.
This quote YOU quoted clearly debunks that.

I don't fully buy into this. The contract rewards him for his role on the offense and keeps him in the fold as a 2021 option.
What about a two year deal says "long term starting QB"?

Right?

It is almost as if Duncan is trying to convince himself. I think Hill will be given every opportunity to win the starting role after Drew. However, nothing will be handed to him. Winston may see it as an opportunity to beat out Hill in 2021 as the successor to Drew and work under Payton going forward. Win-win situation for the Saints.

Thats it. He's going to be given the opportunity.
But a challenger has entered the arena and he actually has experience and age on his side.

Your full of denial, even Duncan has described his contract as 8 mill per year and you still cant admit it.
Posted on 4/29/20 at 11:17 am to HollierThanThou
Yup.
This doesnt change my mind that its going to be a competition between Jameis and Taysom.

I'm not on a hill arguing long term HTH. I think it sets up where Taysom has the starting opportunity to prove himself in 2021. But make no mistake, he's being paid to start that year.

At this point all youve done is hijack the thread insisting the same bullshite. I cant count how many times youve said 16.9 for a year.
Then you quote someone describing the deal as a two year deal at 8 mill per year.
Apparently you dont see how you’ve contradicted yourself. Amazing.
Get over it. Theyre gonna compete. No one is going to be handed the job.

Jeff Tripplet’s article debating whether Jameis can replace Brees. Read it doofus.
