Underhill mentioned earlier this week that it was someone on the SF staff and that we were waiting to finalize the hire until after the SB. He doesn't stick his neck out there until things are as official as possible because he's a real journalist, not a click monger.

Alright credit where credit is due. That, on paper, is a great hire.
Great hire on paper. I have no idea how it will work out in real life, but at least it gives me hope for next season.

I don't know enough about the guy, so I don't personally have a take either way.
I do know that Vikings fans have universally trashed the guy and hated him during his time there.
He didn't have much success in his first two stints as a play caller, but he is young enough and has gotten to learn under Shanahan, so the hope is that he has improved since his time in Minnesota and Denver.
If not, Dennis Allen is a lame duck coach anyways and when he's fired a new coach will likely want to hire his own new coordinators, so if it doesn't work out, it's only for a year in all likelihood.

2021 as OC:
Cousins: 9th in YPG, 9th in TDs, 6th in QB rating
Cook: 5th in rushing yards, T-19th in rushing TD
Jefferson: 2nd in receiving yards, T-6th in receiving TD
Team: T-11th in YPG, 14th in PPG
average to above average OC would be an upgrade.
