He told them he doesn’t want to be traded. You don’t have to assume anything is bad that’s something you tell yourself because thats what you want it to be.

He said he wants to be here and they decided to be smart and listen. Thats it nothing more.

Offers must be bad for kamara too then? Or no because kamara said its different?

Extending Kamara was a terrible decision, too.

But he's an all-time Saint at least, and is much less expensive than Olave will be, so it's not in the same plane of discussion at this point.

I mean when it comes to it, I would say extending any RB is a bad play. But we had 0 guarantees at quality RB play at the time as well

2/24.5mil, he's grouped within that "tier 2" RB pay --- the Josh Jacobs, James Cook, Kyren, Aaron Jones, etc group; not the Barkley, CMC, Henry, JT

At least relative its only a few million in comparison.

My fear with Olave is he's a Low #1, high end #2 and he's going to get paid more than Tee Higgins

I literally told everyone this week that the Saints value him as a long term option. He's not getting traded. This is well known among everyone on Airline

The key is Olave being your #2 WR and being paid reasonably. He is not a number one and if the deal isn’t team friendly, trade him and move on.

What is your cutoff for:

1. Age to be considered "young"
2. # of players on the "best" list. 10? 20? 30?

And?

We were a shite team and RBs are easy to acquire.

That is a luxury for good teams.

That is a noose for bad teams

He's more like a mid-WR2 and he's going to probably be paid like Higgins b/c (1) our front office is bad at football management and (2) emotions are involved due to the cost of acquiring Olave.

Why would a shitty, rebuilding team pay WR2 market rates for a WR2? It makes no sense.

We need to be looking for a WR1 to pay

In every situation listed those guys are being paid by teams who were playoff caliber outside of Indy last year. It just seemed so stupid and unnecessary to pay an aging running back anything close to top dollar for the position. We could have 3 young guys with some pop and burst signed for half the price of Kamara.

I’m now worried that we’re just keeping up with the joneses with Olave and paying a pretty good wr top dollar for a 2. That doesn’t propel you up the chain it just keeps you kind of status quo.

Ideally to me your complimentary weapons are younger, drafted first contract guys, not on bigger 2nd contracts. Save those kind of moves for when you’re actually in a contending spot.

I don’t think paying him is a death knell by any means but it just seems unnecessarily risky with the current rebuilding place we’re at…especially with the concussions.

Of course we are. If there is a bad decision to be made you can bet your arse Loomis will make it.
