It's hard to argue with anything the team has done the past 2 days. Let's recap:

Going in, our biggest needs were: Interior offensive line, linebacker, another weapon for Drew

First round (24) - We selected the best, highest graded interior offensive lineman in the entire draft that will start day 1. Highly graded football player. Biggest need is eliminated

Third Round (74)- Zach Baun, LB. We choose a first round talent in the third round. Highly productive LB who can rush the passer and projects as a Mike or a Sam LB. Would've been happy w/him at 24 and we got him at 74. Great pick. Second need eliminated

Third Round (105)- Adam Trautman, TE. Big pass catching tight end with tremendous size for the position. Projects as an In-Line "Y" for us and gives drew the exact body type he needs for another weapon. 2 TE sets flanked by Thomas Sanders and AK and a rock solid O-Line? Come on.

I understand people have concerns about trading the rest of the picks in rounds 4-7. The reality of the situation is this:

We have the deepest roster in the league.
It's highly unlikely anyone selected in rounds 5-7 would make this current roster.
Example- In 2018 Rick Leonard went in the 4th and never made the team.

In our situation you want to target guys you have a clear vision for and can help your football team immediately. We have done that 3 times. Every single player we selected was in the top 40 on our board. That is incredible value.

Aren't you glad we didn't take Queen at 24? We get a player of comparative, if not equal or better ability at 74, and we get a day 1 starter on the offensive line as well.

It's hard to find a bigger draft winner when the full context of the organization and situation is taken into account. I will dream about the things Sean can do w/Trautman in the slot, on the line, etc, along w/ a healthy AK, Taysom, and a much improved interior OL.

I love this draft. Very impressive ability to trust your scout on a guy and stick to your philosophy. Saints fans everywhere should be very excited about what we've done

No matter what anyone says we absolutely crushed this draft. And we only gave up a 3rd in next years draft and will be getting a comp 3rd back

I just hope Sean and Mickey called MarineVet to get his OK before we got Trautman.

We gave up all of our picks, we didn’t win anything.

The only reason people are saying this is because they have heard of all of their picks before aside from the lineman. This happens every year. Oh well I recognize those names therefore that team must have had the best draft.

Dobbins will back up Ingram, Duvernay is a small slot WR similar to what they have already and the Aggie D end did nothing against the SEC west for 3 years

Do you realize we released our last 4 picks last year? We have a deep, talented roster. Great problem to have.

Exactly. Perfect picks that will contribute immediately.

Couldn’t care less about trading 4-7 round picks if they think this dude is a legit weapon. My memory may be a bit fuzzy but it seems like this team has had almost as much success with UDFA as they do mid-late round picks as a whole.

Glad they didn’t part with any more future picks for 105

Can't believe I have 9 downvotes.

The people bitching about giving up picks in rounds 4-7 would be the same fricking people bitching when those picks didn't make the team because the roster is absolutely loaded. Stupidity has not been affected by COVID-19

The issue when people say “we gave up too much” is that you really don’t know what you gave up at all. Like a guy I was watching yesterday said “who is this fictional player in the 5th round you are so upset about not getting?”

Remember when Atlanta traded like 5-6 picks for Julio? I’m sure you’ve heard of Julio Jones right? Now name the players selected in the spots that Atlanta traded away and tell me if you’d take any or all of them over Julio. I understand that’s not an exact science but it’s the only basis for comparison we have that I can think of. Does it always work out? Of course not. But if they’ve identified a hand full of players and they are able to get them, they get them

I don’t like your title, but I’m good with the moves they made this year. It is Drew’s last year. We don’t need to be drafting projects in rounds 4-7. These three guys can make an immediate impact at positions of need for us. I’m not mad.

I disagree based on your assessment of our needs. This team needs a home run hitting WR. I am fearful that once again we’re going to lose games because we don’t have weapons. Sanders and Cook are old, MT can’t be a mega star EVERY GAME, and Lewis/Smith just aren’t all that good.

I’m fairly happy because I really like the players. but this plan isn’t totally fool proof when it comes to value & risk

Sean literally said "we didn't draft him this high to be a backup"

So no, it doesn't remain to be seen

Wrong

2019 draft
4- Chauncey-Gardner we kept him and he played a lot. We had no 5 and we cut 6 and both 7s.
