The Bensons and Loomis did nothing to change that. It was a HOF coach and QB that changed the team. Not the leadership left behind.

Saints are going to give up a top five pick in a draft with two elite quarterbacks because the GM doesn’t know the sport.

However, all three, Benson, Loomis, and Allen will be back next year to run it in the ground further.

Yea but those years in between were something weren’t they?

Wait a minute.

Didn’t Benson and Loomis hire Payton and bring in Drew Bree’s.

Your whole argument is bunk. Lol.

The Mora and Haslett years weren't that bad actually.

Exactly, the lazy win it all or you suck narrative misses a lot. The Saints are having a bad year and immediate future (2023 maybe 2024) looks grim but the GM everyone is trashing (and I have issues with some of his moves like trading away future picks to get one guy) overall has done pretty well. The coaching hire was a whiff but that can be corrected. The owner has been hands off and which is what you want.

I'll always look back fondly at The Lunch Bunch, Kyle Turley, and Sammy Knight days though.

They didn't give it up. They got GREAT value by trading that top 5 pick for #16 overall last year. What they actually gave up, as in literally gave away in that trade, was a 3rd last year and a 2nd round pick in 2024.

some people will defend anything their team does. Olave is a very good player but it was a stupid trade eta : it was stupid even when we figured it would be a mid round pick

Just to be clear, I was being facetious. I agree with you. It was the worst set of trades since Bill O' Brien got fired from the Texans and proceeded to frick up Bama. On the original trade, I posted then, we would have to have made the NFC Championship game (and only given up the ~30th overall) this year for that trade to even be considered a wash. Not only do we suck this year, we lose the only advantage we had by sucking when we traded away next years #1)
