How big are his hands?

Stevens is terrible
Possibly as a starting QB, but perhaps Payton knows how to utilize his talents.

From 2017
quote:
Teammates didn’t know what to expect when the Indiana native enrolled in Happy Valley. They assumed he could pass — he was a scholarship quarterback, after all — and they saw how he could move while competing against Trace McSorley in camp. But the catches? The on-the-spot improvisations? The overall versatility?
“He’s kind of surprised me,” Gesicki said earlier this month. “He’s a weapon for us — whatever he’s doing.”
Said wideout Juwan Johnson: “He brings everything to the table. He can catch the ball; he can throw the ball. He can pretty much do whatever.”
quote:
McSorley remembered Stevens often telling the staff, “I’ll do whatever you want me to do.” And he was confident enough that he never backed down when a new challenge came up. “He’s the type of player if you told him to play defense, he would,” McSorley added.

remember... it takes 2 to do the free agent tango... and Kat Terrell seems to confirm Stevens was ready to tango with another team if he wasn't drafted

Saints wanted to sign Stevens as a free agent, guess they got wind that someone else liked him

Actually sounds like he was leaning toward signing with someone else if he didn't get drafted so Saints wanted to make sure they got him

I mean he's just a camp body right, he's a 3rd day pick
Exactly. Melting over a 7th round pick is beyond tarded.

bullshite. They could have strapped him up against a pole and put a gun to his head if they really wanted to sign him. Saints are so STUPID!

I'm not certain... but I'm pretty sure that that's literally illegal
now the Saints have his rights and he can't sign elsewhere

If someone is lying, and you know they are lying, can you shoot them?

They say covid messes with your mind. Hmmm

Taysom was never drafted. Maybe Stevens can be a RB, WR, TE hybrid. He’s certainly athletic, but not a good QB

quote:well nobody’s getting reps at QB until Brees retires. I personally think Taysom might be a good QB!
I don’t believe him. They clearly don’t see him as a QB. He’s a QB in the same way Taysom has been the last few years.

Im pretty sure the saints arent taking a qb in the 7th fricking round with the plan of him being the starter bruh
I know,I have not laughed so hard since New England picked that Michigan guy in the 6th round about 20 years ago when they already had a pretty good quarterback.

This guy sounds like a hell of an athlete. Maybe Payton has cracked the code on hybrid players, and thinks he can develop this guy the way he developed Hill. I mean, we're talking use the guy as an H Back a couple plays, and then put him in the shotgun to run off tackle. He's big, fast, and has just enough passing experience that you have to at least cover Kamara and Thomas, if they spread out (and Hill, too, btw).
I wonder... would Sean Payton even replace Brees with a fulltime QB, or would he play around with the concept of out-athleting everyone, for maybe a year? You KNOW he'd like to frick around with that.

Stevens transferred to Mississippi State in 2019 after playing at Penn State the previous four years. During that time, he worked with then-assistant coach Joe Brady on a package of plays that featured him running the ball and catches passes. A few years later, Brady expanded that package with Hill in New Orleans before taking his own path to a prominent role in the NFL.
quote:
The 6-foot-5, 236-pound Stevens planned to work out at both tight end and wide receiver at the Bulldogs’ pro day, which was cancelled because of the coronavirus. He still went through a virtual workout at his training facility in Florida and sent video to every team in the NFL, but he’s happy with where he landed.

So this guy Is a Taysom Hill clone? Too funny when you put them in at the same time. Can’t wait for preseason.
