Are you kidding? Carr would last as long as RWilson did in Denver once Payton took over if he performs poorly.
McCarthy will have a rookie qb here in 2026.

I'm not a Derek Carr guy.

I'm hoping whoever the hire is has a different plan in mind other than him.

Carr has durability issues and is in his mid 30's.

Fletch says his “gut” tells him it’s going to be McCarthy.

Loomis did not exactly commit to Carr yesterday in his presser. That is why I asked the question.

So yeah, it sounds like the new coach is going to hold that key determining Carr's fate.

Can’t be worse than Allen I guess. I wouldn’t mind seeing him in charge without someone like Jerry micromanaging everything. Gayle is pretty hands off, let him get his guys and see what can happen.

Of course if you can get Ben Johnson (obvious pipe dream) I’d rather see how that turns out.

Yep Carr would be 34 before next season starts, I’m hoping no one running the Saints think he is a long term starter

Why not? This team is fricked until it's sold to someone who gives a shite anyways.

He’s the most solid coach on the market and doesn’t field shite teams. We’re not in the kind of cap situation where some young gun can come make mistakes.

For every Mike McDaniel there are 5 Josh McDaniels. Not really looking to be in coach hell for a decade+.

Hire the guy now.

We need to kill the draft the next two years.

The only problem we would run into with McCarthy is that most of the insiders believe he would basically be forced to keep Carr and do his best with that and whatever we get through the draft.

It’s not a forgone conclusion Carr stays if we go with Kingsbury, Brady or even Glenn. If McCarthy comes, I’m sure he’ll coach the team well enough to 7-10 or 8-9, maybe even 9-8 with Carr at QB - maybe better if we absolutely NAIL the next two drafts which isn’t likely. So I want McCarthy…I just don’t want what the expectation would be with him. He would be expected to win with Carr. That’s not going to happen

If Cheddar Mike is willing to take over this dumpster fire they better lock the gates behind him on airline drive once he gets inside and not open them until the paperwork is signed.

what if the newer and unproved coaches had their own agenda? Ben Johnson already laid out what he wants in an organization as far as being aligned.

the Saints and Ben Johnson ain't connected in any of these early reports.

so, forget about what many consider the top new and upcoming coach.

If the Saints have to settle for McCarthy after a peanut turd experience with DA, then so be it.

Then it won’t be, fletch is awful at coaching hires…well really he’s awful in general

Anyway, MM’s resume is way better than what I expected from the outset if he’s the guy. We could do much, much worse.

At minimum I don’t mind having him in the building as we try to identify and develop our next qb because he’s not currently on the roster
