Davis was a 3rd round pick by the Vikings in 2021

here's his nfl.com draft profile

here's what the Vikings beat reporter thinks of the signing

The #Saints are signing G Wyatt Davis off the #Giants practice squad to their active roster. The former #Vikings third-round pick has a new home.

He went to Ohio St....which means the Saints just assume he is going to be good.

I'm pretty sure the front office has two separate boards for their talent evaluation. One board comprised solely of players who attended/currently attend Ohio St. and one board for everyone else. If they are able to grab a player from board one, they don't proceed to board two.

He’s way too slow and is a poor athlete with heavy feet. He’s very strong in a phone booth which made him a good player in college but in the NFL and especially in our offense where we like to pull our guards in run blocking I don’t see him ever being a fit. We need to continue strengthening our line, particularly the interior, through the draft. McCoy will no doubt get a big new deal from us and he deserves it as he’s a top center in the league but Peat is on the back end of his deal and could be replaced by cheaper and younger talent soon as his contract allows for an out after this season. Ruiz, unless he makes a big leap this year, will need to be replaced as well as there’s no chance he deserves a 5th year based on his play so far. Whoever doesn’t end up as the starting LT out of Hurst and Penning could fill one interior spot.

Dude, we signed him off of a practice squad for a cheap minimum contract. No one is expecting him to be the next incornation of Anthony munoz

quote:The Minnesota Vikings 2021 draft class took a massive hit during final cutdowns as seven selections from the class were let go, including former third-round pick G Wyatt Davis.

Just a note. The next time anyone gets a little disgusted if we don't hit on all of our picks just let that statement right above this one sink in.

The funny thing is that the Vikings are, historically, pretty decent at drafting.

The Saints just draft very good lately.
