re: Saints reportedly interested in Robby Anderson

I highly doubt we sign him. I’d much rather go get sanders who is a much better fit than Anderson. And i believe sanders is going to be more affordable than Anderson (who hasn’t done much to earn the money he is asking for).

I'd take RA any day. We all know he can get behind a defense but from within 20 yards he is a threat too.

Does Brees even have the arm strength to throw to Robby?

I thought Perrimam would have had more of a market after he finally showed some potential late last season

Yeah drew can’t fire the ball more than about 40-50 yards downfield anymore but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea to bring in some speed. The only issue is Anderson is seeking north of 10 mill and honestly I’m not paying that to a guy with his off field concerns who also hasn’t had a 1k yard season. He’s a good around 750-8 yards a season. I’d pass on him unless he comes as a bargain.

My guess is they like Lil’Jordan or Butler and will go with a late round WR or a cheaper FA who gets cut after camps. IMHO
I seriously doubt this. They are well aware of the glaring need at WR2, so they won't ignore it this year. They had faith in Ginn and Smith last year which is why they didn't address it. They now know that they have no current answer, so they will address it now and most likely in the draft as well.
If not Anderson they will be bringing in one of these FAs to compete for the spot. The 2 you mention are future projects they hope develop; they are not reliable yet.

This loaded draft class is slowing down the WR FA signings I reckon. Which could maybe allow us to swoop in and grab a perriman or anderson for less than anticipated

Pass. Isn’t worth what he’s going to get paid. I’d rather have Emmanuel Sanders at $8 million per year than Anderson at $13-15 but we can fill that need in the draft.

Would absolutely love that move.

Robby Anderson = Fantasy Santa
He only shows up in December.

Only 52% of Anderson’s targets were deemed accurate last season

Since he entered the league in 2016, he has caught 37 of 38 catchable deep targets (20+ yards downfield) for 1311 yards and 16 TDs.
The problem has been deep accuracy. Only 33% of his 112 targets have been catchable.

Do we keep both Ginn and Trequan on board?
Posted on 3/19/20 at 9:07 pm to cfish140
quote:not sure why we would cut bait with Trequan. This would be year 3 out of 4 on a really cheap deal and his potential to emerge still exists. I think we obviously need to bring in real competition to compete for the no.2 and even the no.3 job but it would make no sense to cut Smith at this time.
Trequan
Ginn is most likely going to retire or spend most of the year being on the injury call short list for a few teams.

I’d rather Jefferson!

Hard to count on rookie receivers as a primary weapon. I’d go after Robby and still target Jefferson.
I’ve watched too many of Robby’s games unfortunately, but he stands out, runs great routes, and that is waisted by inaccurate passes. He can be much more than a deep threat, and compliments our weapons of Thomas, Cook, and Kamara. Thomas would murder almost any DB2 in the league, and if they put single coverage on Anderson he would take a lot of short passes to the house. His type of receiver is perfect for us

we dont need to cut Smith to draft Jefferson or to sign Anderson or to sign and/or draft other WRs.
Keeping Smith does not prohibit the team from adding players that can make the team better or supplant people currently on the depth chart
Keeping Smith at this point is more about him being cheap, talented, and a player at a position with a position coach that has done well at developing players

Do y’all think Jefferson still falls to us after his 40 time? I figured he’d go a lot sooner
Posted on 3/19/20 at 11:34 pm to cfish140
I think it is still possible. This is a deep WR draft so teams wont feel the need to go on a run early to deplete them.
Lamb and Jeudy are still perceived by most pundits to be slightly better
with Shenault, Higgins, and Ruggs all being ranked similarly to Jefferson
it wouldnt be measurables that win people over to Jefferson it would be his tape
