No you don’t, you keep Lattimore, one of the top CBs in the league. One of the most important positions in the league, a dude who’s still in his prime
We’re a long way off from really competing. It really needs to be all about getting a qb at this point. Hell in 09 we were kicking teams asses with CBs off the street.

Can we even trade Lattimore?

Not if you want a talented base on your team in 3 years.
The value that Lattimore brings to this team in 23 and 24 is meaningless.
This team is going to be less competitive next year than it was this year. We need to embrace the rebuild.

Starting to feel just lose and have fire sale, start over. Teams bounce back look at 49ers, Jags, Bengals, Eagles, Bills, Giants, Dolphins. Holding on to bad team too long cost you more just rebuild staff and all. If you keep DA tank give him nothing to win with.
I swear to god I saw you say Saints should get playoff caliber qb cause draft qb could be bust.

Exactly, he basically won us the Eagles game and had we had him more we probably win another game or 2 that gets us in the post season.
I kind of see the point of the OP, he just poorly constructed his argument and details. Every team has a high-water mark where you can expect to make a post-season run. Do you think the Saints are there again in the next 3-5 years is the question (as it pertains to Lattimore or any non-rookie on the roster)? I honestly think we had no business in the playoffs this year because we were never a contender, and given the coaching/QB situation I don't think we will be for at least another 3 years. So yes, it's viable to trade him if the contract numbers don't scare away potential suitors and the draft capital from the trade makes sense. That doesn't mean you give him away for crap picks, which realistically you would maybe get a 2nd rounder at most.
Teams are looking for guys that are on their rookie deals or coming off of their rookie deals and due for their first contract (ala Trey Hendrickson). Otherwise you'd just use the high pick and get a rookie to develop.

He’s talented, and he’s already under contract. I get when it’s up not renewing

You have to turn today's value into tomorrow's value.

Saints fans prior to 2017: “why can’t we draft a quality CB?!”
Saints fans now: “why don’t we trade our pro bowl caliber CB?!”

I’m talking specifically 50/50 balls
Fumbles, onside kicks, stuff like that
We have been playing losing football on that end for far longer than 1 season.
Watch the film baw. Our team has zero grit.

When you’re trying to figure out how to make the Saints worse so the Bengals can be better, your Burrow fandom has officially gone too far
