Lets see, this past offseason we
Got one of the best Centers in the game
Drafted a top ILB and OLB who are doing damn good thus far
Signed the steal if the offseason imo in Breaux
Traded for another linebacker in Ellerbe who has played very well
Some ppl think you can fix everything in one offseason.

Well I said it then

I would have also been a fan of drafting a C or G

It literally doesn't matter who we have if we continue to call the routes we do.

Cooks is always open on cut routes and underneath. Problem is we send him on aa 30 yardstreak on first and second then underneath on 3rd and long.

The goal is to win another super bowl before Brees retires just trying to figure out how we're going to get there.

Start by protecting Brees.

Ellerbe has been a big part of our defensive success the last two weeks.

Why isn't this guy a GM in the NFL? Uncanny.

Start by protecting Brees & by giving him a receiver that demands a double team or bracket coverage.

I am actually optimistic about Cooks the rest of the way. Sean was actually being creative trying to get him the ball. Drew and Cooks have been working on their timing and it is getting better every game. Sooner or later those passes are going to drop in and the offense is going to take 3 steps forward.

I haven't really seen anyone complaining about this offseason or the graham trade

People are upset about the poor drafting and talent evaluation that led to that trade being necessary

We knocked this draft out of the park

If we had beckham or jarvis Landry we would look like the old saints offense.

We had no shot at Beckham and Landry would not play well with Cooks, but the one that really hurts is SJB over Allen Robinson. Loved his athleticism and would have paired great with Cooks.

I think Cooks is a good player. He's coming along slower than I thought. But he's still making some really good plays.

I don't know why Payton likes to feature Cooks on 2 yard routes on 3rd and long. It just makes me want to throw my remote clean through a wall. And that goddamn screen play to Spiller...come the frick on, Sean. Nobody's falling for that shite anymore.

Back too Cooks, though...his catch on the sideline after the Saints were backed up was absolutely HUGE. That changed field position dramatically and with the Saints playing good defense that had to be a huge boost.

Because that is the type of play you run with dynamic guys. Defenders usually like to just hang around the sticks and say "hey, come beat us here" on 3rd down. There's usually a lot of traffic there, dangerous to throw around. You don't really wanna throw beyond either because it's a lower % completion to go deep, and you have to complete the pass.

Dynamic guys like Antonio Brown can take short, high % completion passes, and make plays to get to the sticks. We actually saw it a bunch of times yesterday: on 3rd and 6+, they throw a short crossing pass to Cooks. He never made the play - his fault. But the design was good. A dynamic player can make defenses pay there.

Yeah, that's a play for non-injured Percy Harvin or Darren Sproles or Wes Welker or Danny Woodhead. Brandin Cooks hasn't made that play yet, so perhaps we should just stop with it. It's not working.
