Saints Mock Draft Simulation

I know there was one of these threads a month or two ago, but it's draft week so time to circle back and give it your best shot, baby. Feel free to trade away.
I use PFN's free Mock Draft Simulator that moves fast and proposes reasonable trades on its own, or you can propose one yourself (i.e. see what you can get with all those 5ths we have).
I choose to live in a fantasy world where the Saints might trade down for more picks.
Easiest way I know to post results is screenshot and good old Postimage.org

I traded back to 19 and picked up 52 (2nd rounder). One of my favorites that I did.

168 - Tykee Smith
170 - Gabe Hall

Think I would take this one to the bank. Double-dip on OT. I like Wiley as a tall and fast mid-round TE. Love the Iowa punter. Could've had Braden Fiske instead of Hall at 59, maybe should've gone that way. And I finish with the sexiest QB in the draft!

Hell, he's worth a 7th rounder for his hair alone.

Was going to nit pick a couple of choices till I saw the draft pick haul for next year
If there ever was a great year for trading down once and even twice in the first round this is it.

No more players from Houston. I live in Houston and the can't get local support. How did that last Houston pick work out

Jc Latham is another sure pick imo.
Dude is huge and powerful. His lower body is enormous but still has quick feet.
No one on here talks about him but I would very happy with him. He can for sure play rt for 10 yrs if he can't move to left.

I don't see corley making it to 52 at all.
Love tykee Smith
Someone is going to get an absolute steal in Michael penix. Love how he just stands in the pocket and delivers the ball with pressure around him. The opposite of Carr.
I'd move back into the first to take penix if he fell to the end of the round and it wasn't too expensive.

There’s a lot of good simulations with us moving back a few picks.
Really helps us fill additional roles and still fill needs.
So it won’t happen

Made a few trades and made sure most of them had higher than 9.5 RAS Scores

Mims is such a Ying Yang pick. He will be the biggest steal of the draft or a very big bust .
I have never seen a tackle crush and completely destroy a human being like Mims on running plays. And I've watched a lot of football

Few trade downs. Don’t care about immediate need
Powers-Johnson is your new starting LG
Hall Jr immediately joins your DT rotation. Smith plays in certain packages, with upside to be a thing in the coming years
The Yale sits while we throw Penning to the wolves at T.
Penix is there for when we get tired of Carr
Jaheim Bell
quote:
Since 2014, Bell has led all Power 5 TEs in *both* career yards after the catch per reception (9.24) and career missed tackles forced per reception (0.38)...
Can also line up at RB and WR
Tyrone Tracy is WR turned RB. Getting some David Johnson comps from draftniks
Cedric Johnson and Devonshire are getting buzz, probably not available where I got em.

Chalk if your going to comment maybe do the 7 round mock from the OP?
Posted on 4/21/24 at 6:33 pm to Suntiger
I know that won’t happen but that’s honestly how the Saints FO should be thinking. Accumulating a lot of draft capital. And not necessarily just this year, future years also.

I didn't realize just how bad we've been at YAC until watching a NOF podcast the other day. We have been toward the bottom of the league for a few years now. Need to have a guy with some YAC ability, even if it's a TE. And all this talk about Bowers at 14 has just made me realize how much we need a receiving TE.
I still like Johnson, but he severely disappointed last year relative to expectations. Could be injuries, could be his chemistry with Carr, but whatever, we've got to get more production out of that position in the passing game.
I like double-dipping on OL in the top 61, even if I don't know much about either one. Also like taking a DT in the 2nd. We desperately need to upgrade the depth at that position with some youth. I like Maason Smith at 87 there as a project, too.
Would also love to get Penix in the building at 73. With his age and having played so many college games, I think he could oust Haenor and become the backup. I just really think the best use of cap money/roster space this year would be to have Heanor or a seasoned rookie win the backup job and only carry Taysom as the 3rd, emergency QB. Don't want to waste a roster spot or any cap money towards a less than mediocre backup.

Penix is going to go way before 73.

traded down a few times.
Double dipped on the O-line with the first few picks. Beebe could take over the left guard spot from day one probably.
