The #Saints  and new coach Kellen Moore are set to interview former #Chargers coach Brandon Staley for defensive coordinator today and #Eagles QBs coach Doug Nussmeier for offensive coordinator early this week, sources say.

I’d rather Parker than Staley tbh but they’re both Fangio disciples so it would probably be still that hybrid 3-4 but I’d rather the unknown and upside of Parker. Plus, he’s younger.

Staley had that one good year with the Rams but his Chargers defenses just weren’t very good and they didn’t have THAT bad of personnel

I always wonder how focused they really are on defense as a head coach though. Look at Dennis who's defense got progressively worse as a HC. Good DC if that's his sole focus. I feel like Staley may be the same.

Wade Phillips fielded the 20th and 17th defenses in Points Against before Staley took over in LA and turned out the #1 ranked D. I know we are dismissive of that one season but he obviously changed something with mainly the same personnel. And Staley is still somehow catching stray for SF issues this past year

Parker would be fine but he’s 33, I’d be very surprised if they brought him in but stranger things have happened

I’m hoping for a surprise DC candidate

I’ll never forget McVay absolutely pumping Staley during that season, saying shite like he’s one of the smartest football dudes he’s ever been around.

I’d be fine with giving Staley a shot but I just don’t want him to be scapegoated. The D has even less talent than the offense. They’ll need to give him 3 years too

Agreed. Put together the best staff possible and give them 3 years minimum (unless internal issues). Let them coach and grow while we re-tool the roster for the long haul.

Hopefully it’s not Staley… that fricker was a horrible coach for San Diego and kept his team out the playoffs with his hubris vs the Raiders. We don’t need that shite here!

And Ramsey was the highest graded corner in the league that SB year after Staley as well, according to PFF
