Genuinely curious, who are some recent WRs who were contested catch guys who were big time college WRs that didn’t work out?

Do you have the contested catch numbers for Johnny Wilson? That might give you a better idea if it’s completely a Keon Coleman issue or a Travis Jordan issue.

I’d almost rather draft Ja'Tavion Sanders in the 2nd to be our big endzone target because there are other WRs in the draft who can be good possession guys. Players like Ricky Pearsal, Brenden Rice, Johnny Wilson, Luke McCaffery, etc.

If we are hoping a flawed prospect in that tier can hit, then we need to ride with a Xavier Legette or Malachi Corley.

Both have Debo-like ceilings.

Or Tez Walker, who is a different sort of explosive but just needs to refine his route running a bit.

Even if Coleman prove he's the unicorn outlier, his ceiling is still a WR2 or big slot.

I'm looking. He has 2.4 YRR and a 40% contested catch rate. Looking for the CTR.

His ADOT was also higher than Coleman.

This team should draft OL/DL in the first two rounds. I get the best prospect available but the lack of depth and non free agent signings at those positions- makes it even more imperative to draft at those positions regardless if there is a better prospect somewhere else. The Saints just don’t have that luxury of getting the best guy at the spot in my opinion.

I like Legette. I think he goes before our pick in the 2nd round though.

I think Jermaine Burton is interesting. The poor passing game of alabama really kept him from showing his real potential this year IMO.

Burton's issues are off the field. Otherwise he'd probably be the 4th or 5th guy.

Nabors/MHJ
Odunze

Those are the top 2 tiers/WRs, then it's a glop of like 10+ guys. Burton could be the top of that tier if he was a good guy

Kubes was part of the regime in MIN that took Jalen Reagor 23rd overall. Reagor’s college data has become the analytic model for “do not draft” WRs. We didn’t have that data even 5 years ago

Coleman does pop up on a lot of the same lists. I know they’re hunting for a big body but I’d rather take a Rick Pearsall or Ladd if they fall to that spot.

Love pearsall and mcconkey. Coleman scares me. There is just no in between with him.

Also he will probably get drafted early 2nd. The saints can't afford to take him in the 2nd with the lines the way they are.

I don't know if Ladd is a "big body" but I'd want him 100/100 times over Coleman.

If we are dead set on going bigger in round 2, Polk, Franklin, or Rice.

What sucks is that we don't have a 4th. That is probably going to be the best spot to pick a guy in that tier who falls.

Saints need to come away with a receiver in this draft.

You can get a guy with one of those compensatory 3rd.

Thrush
Pearsall
Mcconkey

I'd love to get mcconkey. You need that guy in the modern nfl. Pearsall and mcconkey might be gone by the 3rd.

I don’t consider Ladd or Pearsall as big bodies. I’m saying I’d rather pivot to them than be totally committed to getting a big WR like Coleman or Leggette

I just listened to the PFF WR show again because I know they referenced it. 19th percentile catchable target rate. Travis/FSU offense were bad.

However 11rh percentile separation percentage in single coverage

Note: they were pro him for the most part

I just don't see them going receiver in the 2nd.

Rice is nice and will be a 10 year guy. I don't see all these receivers going in the 2nd. Some will fall to the 3rd and 4th.

Agreed although I think Legette has more to offer than contested catches

I really like Ladd. Would love to have him but he seems destined to be a 49er, chiefs, miami type lol

A lot of ppl won’t agree but I think this guy ends up being a much better nfl WR than Brian Thomas.

I don't have any charts but does being bracketed or double teamed affect the contested catch rate %?

Shite, Washington receiver polk is a dog.

Legette almost reminds me of DJ metcalf.

Malachi corley is who I would actually try my hardest to get. He will end up being one of the best receivers out of this class.
