This is a huge deal. Think about the fines Goodell has given to players, and how he has made the league closer to flag football. This could be really, really bad.

Loomis could get fired for this. I sincerely hope that does not happen.

think they'll let the Saints play this season? Will they let us re-sign Brees or will the NFL make us let him walk? Hopefully they don't tear down the Superdome.

Its hypocritical.

You're taught to hit when force, dislodge the ball and get your opponent out the game.

Then roger bitches about "player safety"? We all that if u half arse football, that's when u get really hurt

Good reply, sir. Taking draft picks from the team, players getting suspended, and possibly firing Loomis for involvement? None of those are a big deal? Don't be an idiot.

It doesn't look good, but it's also not surprising at all. I just wish he would have spent more time teaching them how to tackle. There's no doubt that the physicality of the defense was a big part of our success in 09. The beatings we put on Favre and Warner were epic and while they may have had bounties out, I didn't think there were a lot of "cheap" shots in those games. They just hit them hard and often.

You could definitely see that the defense lacked discipline as time wore on and this program most likely made that worse. Players that are looking for a knockout hit don't wrap up and the amount of missed tackles we had last year was mind boggling. The fact that GW is gone should help the situation. I expect some sort of organizational fine, but would be surprised if individual players are suspended.

It doesn't sound like Loomis was behind this. It sounds like this is money the players were pooling themselves.

Some speculation that picks forfeited this year and possibly the first round pick next year and possibly a fine on top of that.

If they want to really make a statement, the NFL should fine the players and coaches that were involved in this scheme. That will make the coaches and players think twice about participating.

The report says that Benson specifically told Loomis to put a stop to it and he did not.

more than next year's first and a huge fine would just be overkill IMO

Exactly who received a bounty? Here is the list of players we knocked out of games the past three years that I can remember:
