What yard line was the ball on Saints punt at end of the opening drive?? I’m thinking just inside the Rams 40 but can’t recall. If it was around the 38-37, WTH not try the FG? Several coaching decisions like this and the onside kick were head scratchers.

would have been a 55 yard attempt, in a dome, with a NFL kicker, in the year 2023, on the opening drive, in a must win game, on the road, absurd to punt

How about the time out on the first drive of the second half playing from behind. The dude is just not a good coach.

Don’t have a kicker you can trust to make a 55 yard FG there. If they miss, rams have the ball at the 45. If you can’t trust your kicker there, punting is the smart play.

The smarter play would be to have a kicker you can trust there, but that’s a discussion for a different thread

It would have been a 55 yard FG. I couldn’t believe it when he sent the punt team out there.

Allen is such a terrible coach.

With a good kicker you obviously kick there. Instead, Allen decided to pin them deep and trust his defense. Unfortunately his defense isn’t good when they’re playing against an offense that’s worth a shite. So they drove 95 yards for a TD. And everyone knew right then, we were not winning

I didn't think the onside kick was a bad call. But I wouldn't have been disturbed by a regular kick either. So many bad calls though. The end of the first two drives was awful.

The opening drive should have been a field goal attempt (LAR 37 - 54 yarder). If Carr doesn't take that sack, it's an easy FG.

The second drive turnover on downs should have been a field goal attempt or a punt (4th and 5 from the LAR 39 - 56 yard FG attempt). Instead, it ends with another sack for a 9-yard loss.

The game was set up for a loss on those two drives, IMO
