I wouldn't be shocked. If its a college coordinator it has to be a high profile and successful one or it will look awful
Now that I've calmed down, I don't think he has the replacement in line yet

If he does in fact already have a replacement it is an out of work NFL defensive coach or a college coordinator
Romeo's best chance at another job is at D coordinator, something he's done well over the years. Even when the Chiefs suck under Haley, RC's D was good.
And what college DC do you get? Kirby Smart? We won't know how good he is until he's away from Saban.

hell no to a college coach
romeo would be nice, as would singletary.
or someone from the Lebeau/Belichik/Fangio coaching tree

I'm only saying that if the assumption is he has one in place. He's only been allowed to talk to NFL people for 2 days now

Dome Patrol part 2 Surprised this didn't get posted until page 4. First thing I thought of.
Yeah, unfortunately I think Rickey Jackson and Pat Swilling could challenge Will Smith for his job still.

Statistically it was bad, but they did improve. But let's not kid ourselves. We had no personal, had no picks to add guys prior to last year and the entire organization was a clusterfrick. Also as the NFL becomes more flag football like you're going to see a new worst defense of all time on an annual basis I think.

They're transitioning to a new D. Whoever they get has to be a good teacher.

Ryan would light a fire under this defense.

Apparently that's what the Rams were thinking too

yea and i wouldnt trust a college coach, unless he has strong NFL ties.

I love that Payton is coming in and saying enough is enough with the defense. This makes the NT at Ohio State move up the board big time. Anyone got a list of available 3-4 DC's? Besides singletary and crenel

2. Jim Tomsula, San Francisco 49ers
Why: Watch the San Francisco 49ers' defensive line. It's one of the best units in the game, and that's all Jim Tomsula. Schematically and mechanically, Tomsula is ready to call his own defense. If you need a 3-4 defensive coordinator, he's your man.
4. Winston Moss, Green Bay Packers
Why: Green Bay's inside linebacker coach, Moss has long been on my shortlist of the best up-and-coming coaches. He's ready to take over calling his own defense, and he has been thought to be the likely replacement for Dom Capers once he steps down in Green Bay.
Teams that should be calling: All

Exactly. I think Romeo or Singletary are the best options.

Another year of learning a new system. Their will be improvement because, come on, worst in the history of the league. But Drew is going to have to put on his big boy pants again next year, and try not to shite himself as often.

I like this idea. And weaken those frickers at the same time.

Me too, but if he really does have a replacement lined up. That's pretty god damn fast.
