Saints Film Room: Is Carmichael the root of Saints issues?

I'd buy insurance from this guy....Run an NFL offense? Not so much, Yet Dennis had to beg him to take the job, he sucks, and then we block Payton from bringing his stooge with him to Denver. I just don't get it

Look Mike McDaniel doesn’t look like he cares about sports but has masterful playcalling. At the end, Carmichael seems over his head and thinking too much. For him to say I need to trust my gut more and then call the plays he has the past 4 weeks is just asinine. When you aren’t confident taking the job, you wont be confident doing it. The fact DA had to convince him to take a job he never wanted is now showing out on the field. Another reason why DA has struggled in his decision making to be a head coach.

McDaniel was a rising star that quickly ascended the ranks and got into a HC gig

Pete was an OC in name only for a long time here, but we all know that offense was a Payton-Brees production. Little Pete never even attempted to branch out on his own to show he wasn't a lackey around for the ride. He was even reluctant in taking this job because he knew it'd leave him exposed.

He's probably a guy that's solid in the film room with some input, but just not in his DNA to be running the offense. He's like a diet version of his boss, above average DC, horrific HC

excellent video that I recommend everyone watch. He pointed out that our go to route on pretty much every third down is to attack the sidelines. As he says, if I am a random youtuber and can notice that trend, professional defenses absolutely notice it.

We were discussing at the game. Looks like every Carr pass is a sideline throw or checkdown to Kamara. Tight ends were invisible. No crossing routes either.

This is exactly what I wanted to know.

I couldn't figure out why Carr was holding onto the ball so long on third downs.

Now I know. The play designs are idiotic.

Teams only have to defend 2/3 of the field. That's crazy.

How does DA not see this? Is he not watching film of our offense?

It's like we're running a 2 minute drill constantly where are receivers can run out of bounds.

I knew Carr couldn't be this bad. I don't know what quarterback in the league could have success with play concepts like this.
