If anyone thought this wasn’t happening you have even less NFL IQ than I suspected.

Let the melt ensue.

Lmao.

We'd better hire a fricking qb whisperer.

Derek has done nothing this year to give me any faith he can win a playoff game. What's his best win on the year? The bucs? Whom he split with? He beat a bunch of mediocre teams and lost to Josh fricking Dobbs.

This was always the plan. Nobody should be surprised. It’s one more reason Loomis has got to go.

Based on conversations in Mobile, expect the Saints to follow that path and restructure Carr’s contract before the start of the new league year, which would effectively tie them to the quarterback for at least the next two seasons.

fricking disaster scenario.

yep

i think they were going to restructure him no matter how it turned out, so they could release him after next year without penalty of owing him anything. just something to give the team option to void his last year.

now i hope they are maybe looking for a pay cut from him even though he is making league average pay. something where he can earn more with a lot of incentives to earn as you go.

Man, no. Jesus. Just wow.

Actually if they wanted to release him they wouldnt restructure, there is a much lower cap hit to move on after 2024 on his current contract.

Restructuring means we’re rolling with Carr, not the opposite.

I hope Carr completely recovers from his multiple concussions this past season.

His reaction time and release seemed slower. I hope the Saints can improve his protection and that the NFL gives Carr some early season late hits and roughing penalties to dissuade the open season target he was wearing.

Once he got concussed and returned to play, most of his hits were legal and he just held onto the ball too long.

I am going to be positive that he has completely recovered and fans will see a quick release Carr this upcoming season.

The Saints are rolling the dice with his contract so it’s time to roll with Carr.

So we’re hitching our wagon for 2 more years to a guy who basically had one solid month of football as a Saint, hasn’t been an elite qb in years, has one playoff experience which he lost, basically got our current OC fired, our former pro bowl WR hates him, was seen getting in a shouting match with our pro bowl center and was unceremoniously benched/dumped by his previous team?

This is definition of what happens when you double down on sunk cost instead of being smart and cutting ties when needed. Good luck to the New Orleans Raiders- I mean the Saints.

To be fair- I think thats a pretty optimistic view of what our records could be. Personally, it’ll be interesting to see how long his leash will be with a new OC and DA on the hot seat.

Lol this is true. This restructure may eventually get DA and Loomis fired! Its a blessing in disguise- Carr is a tornado of destruction!

Youre clueless. This is what happens when you are getting you cap down, you restructure your highest cap hit.

Carr’s restructure was OBVIOUS.
