Doesn't surprise me. I've watched a fair amount of Ohio State football the last few years and Werner never did much of anything. He may be a great athlete but it didn't translate on the field.

Good athlete, and the scheme fit is there, just going to have to coach him up and see if they can get him to hit his ceiling.

Didn't understand the pick. I thought he would be a much later pick at best. He does not seem to fit the mold of the current NFL LB.

Wouldn’t be a Saints active roster without one white injury prone OLB.

Didn’t they play like 4 games before they were gifted their playoff berth? Seems like a small sample size.

Could be worse. We could have reached for Cox in the second

Lol no you haven't. There are reputable Ohio State fans, Kosmo and KillerNut, that have come on this board and said otherwise.

His measurables are pretty similar to Kwon's. He ran a 0.003 second slower 40 time.

Our fan base automatically assumes any white LB with us is Shanle/Fujita.

They did the same thing when we took Anzalone, even though Anzalone was more athletic than Shanle.

Werner is more like a less injured Sean Lee (who was also taken in the 2nd round at Pick 55) or Chad Greenway. And those guys were much slower than Werner.

Again, Werer isn't a Hall of Fame guy. That's not his ceiling like other second round picks like McCoy, Williams or Michael Thomas. But he can be a guy who can be a 10-year pro, maybe get a Pro Bowl season or two out of him. But never really be considered one of the best LBs in the game. That's a good ceiling for him. He might not have a higher ceiling than that or higher ceiling than Cox or Bolton or JOK who all have a chance to be special, but Werner also has a much safer floor and a less chance of busting. Underhill has already watched a lot of tape on him. He's kind of a jack of all trades but master of none. He's never going to be out of position and is never going to hurt you in the run or pass game. He's also a guy that can come in right away and start and contribute. You can only say that about maybe Collins and Bolton.

Shanle/Fujita.

The worst part is Shanle and Fujita weren’t trash either. Shanle was actually one of our most underrated/ under appreciated players.

I honestly don’t know much about Werner. I don’t remember seeing much of his games (but I cut the cord 2 years ago, so my college football viewing has been shite). Regardless, all I had to do was read the reactions and comparisons right after the pick and I’m like “I guess he is a white dude.”

From what I’ve read people say he is comparable Davis in measurables and play style, so I’m not sure what there is to complain about.

And that shite actually got upvotes HAHA. People are desperate to cling to something to hate on the man about so they don’t have to focus on him being a saltine player.

“He is injury prone.” - Nope
“He is slow” - Nope
“He can’t cover.” - Wrong
“He doesn’t fit the mold of today’s LBer.” - LOL What???

Exactly. If people would leave race out of it, they'd realize that he's actually very similar to Kwon. Even the injury bug. We basically got a cheaper version of Kwon.

The guy was with us for 4 seasons and missed almost two complete seasons. Shanle missed 2+ games in 4/7 seasons. Fujita missed 7 games his last two seasons.

The comment was tongue and cheek about Werner, who I’m sure will be successful. Still, there is some truth to the comment.

What? There’s zero truth in saying Werner is injury prone because he’s not.

I think we’re talking about Anal zone.

...but we can talk about some of the other guys too, not just the white!
