5th year option would have been in the 12 mil/ year range so not a surprise. Contract year for Apple let's hope he plays lights out.

Smart move. We did this with Ingram and still was able to sign him to a reasonable contract.

He will probably play harder now knowing he is up for a new contract

Yeah definitely because of the money, not because they don't like him.

He's a good number 2 guy, but the 5th year would pay him as a mid tier number 1.

At this point, I don't think 13.2 million is in the cards for him for 2020.

Now, if he balls out, then hell yes sign him to a new contract and pay the man. But he has yet to earn that.
