The timing of this seems strange unless this is to reposition draft capital to trade for another player.

So Essentially it costs a 2nd and 3rd to get Philly to push one of their firsts into the future? And we don't know who will even be available at our picks since this happened before the draft? We got trade raped.

So in essence, we traded a:
future 1st
future 2nd
this year's 3rd
for #16.
nope.
future 1st
future 2nd
this year's 3rd
for #16.
nope.

My bird eye view would say that only makes sense if they are trying to get a QB, unless there’s someone else they are obsessing over

We traded a 1st round pick, 3rd Round pick, our 1st next year, a 2nd in 2024...to move up 2 spots and pick up a mid-late 1st.
This is 100% an all move for a team that is far from being an all in team.
This is just fricking weird.

Has to be the strategy. And I don't hate it but this is still an odd trade.

This trade a month before the draft makes absolutely no sense.

So no first round pick next year?
we're using our 2023 first round pick a year early.
And gambling that we have a better record this year than we did last year

And if we are doing this to get ahead of the Chargers...why wouldn't the Chargers just give up like a 3rd or two or something to move up two spots on draft day?
This is so strange.

But it doesn't seem to make sense for us to jump only the Chargers for a QB.

So basically we traded a 1st for a 2023 1st, a 2024 2nd, and a 2022 3rd. Don't know that I like but I guess they figure we need 2 immediate starters this year.

I don't get this trade at all

This seems like absolute trade rape.
What.
I am totally perplexed.
If we remove the 6th/7th rounders because those have little value.
We swapped 18 for 16 & 19, so we get an extra 1st this season. But it cost us a 1st, a 2nd, and a 3rd to do that?
And unless we're pretty darn good, that 1st we'll be around the same spot next season.
What?

Rapoport’s opinion
“Rationale for the #Saints: This trade gives them three picks in the Top 50 and hopefully that 1 next year is a back-end.
Rationale for #Eagles: They now don’t have to pay 3 1st fully guaranteed contracts, get an extra 1 next year either for a QB or to build around a QB”

I think the intent is to use these two picks to trade up again for a QB
The other crazy path (just because of the way this offseason has been), maybe we see Kyler in a saints uniform by Thursday, who knows
