No. Williams is a great defensive coordinator. I don't know why people thought we could upgrade him. (although Spags is good in his own right) I think Williams' blitzes and calls were a product of the players, not just his scheme.

Saints defense got worse and worse each drive. Carolina went to read option and we just fell apart. We rush 4 drop everyone in coverage and get no pressure on the QB so obviously some receiver run open.

Spagnuolo cannot play the same defense he did with the Giants. The Saints entire d-line is trash and they have no linebackers. Constant blitzing is a must and Gregg Williams knew this.

Our defense generates no pass rush, plays poor pass coverage, can't get themselves off the field on 3rd down and long, can't stop the run.

I think it's pretty obvious that the defense is going to get gashed all season. The offense is going to have to be better than ever to make it into the playoffs, and even then, it might not be enough.
