Saw some good things in that first half
play calling was awesome. Dunk and dunk, throw behind you Carr was moved around. Our tackles can’t block air.

yet, he underthrew him... either way, terrible fricking throw... again, Haener does not have the arm talent to be an NFL QB...

Well we need to improve in some positions. Some decent players will start getting cut around the league. Time to improve our roster. See you guys next week. Have a good week.

Biggest takeaway for me was the 95 yd TD drive by our 1s against what should be most of the 49er defensive 1s

Gives a bit of hope that maybe the offense can be modestly successful this season... something to hold on to as we go to the regular season since that drive was likely Carr's last action until week 1

Most?
One starter on defense played (Brown the S). One.

Starters OUT for SF defense:
DL: Bosa, Hargrave, Collins, Floyd
LB: Warner, Minters, Greenlaw
CB: Ward and Lenior
S: Hufunga

Well he is first ballot Hall of Fa…

Oh, I thought you were describing Drew Brees, my bad.

Seriously though, I think Haener has “NFL Starter” capabilities in terms of processing and working through progressions. He is also the only Saints quarterback I’ve seen since Drew retired who has shown how to climb the pocket and not just freeze or bail.

I like him as a young player still being developed. A lot of you guys are so adamant that a rebuild is necessary and yet you don’t want to give people time to develop. Do we need to start naming the first and second round QB busts just from the last decade? Part of rebuilding is giving young players time to develop. Haener has an NFL arm and he’s smart. Physically he has every tool that Brock Purdy has, and more than Drew had since about mid 2018.

I didn’t understand this. Sure it’s preseason, but isn’t the preseason about getting ready to play real football?

2 timeouts and a 40 second play clock means you can stop the clock at 1:35 and then again at 1:32ish. If the 9ers kneel on 3rd down, they’re punting around 50 seconds remaining. That’s plenty of time to get some “2-minute” work done, both in terms of execution but also play-calling.

That assumes you make the defensive stop and get the ball back, but… wait, that’s why you play football, right? To work through real game scenarios and try to win games?

For all the reasons I despise DA as a head coach, this just adds to them. I can’t IMAGINE a Sean Payton coached team in a season where he’s on “the hot seat” and he just throws in the towel. It’s just preseason, but it’s a chance to COMPETE and build a winning attitude.
