All of the coaches names I’ve heard so far are fricking pathetic

Mickey is doing a great job at making sure we are never relevant again. Sad

Not really a top destination to land a top coach consider the openings we’ll be competing against. Best case scenario is Mickey goes all in on someone, they fail so historically bad that in 2-3 years they are both gone and we get a true rebuild.

Given our current situation, McCarthy would be a pretty good hire in all seriousness. People here act like we’re turning away Ben Johnson or 2004 Nick Saban.

This is not a desirable job. We could do a lot worse than McCarthy.

I don't disagree.

we won't be able to do much in free agency because of the close-minded Loomis still acting like this team was still in contention.

the draft picks should be better but in no way, shape, or form should that fricking jackass Loomis be involved there.

He’s the same age as Sean Payton and they have pretty much the same record. No coach wins in Dallas.

Mickey was GM when McCarthy was OC here. In 2006, McCarthy had been hired by Green Bay to be HC and was luckily taken out of the candidate pool a couple of weeks before Mickey hired Sean. Who knows, maybe Mickey finally gets his chance again???

It's crazy how much relationships/team-ties matter in football hires (moreso in CFB than the NFL). You'd think it'd strictly be a merit-based process.

It's gonna be real hard for Dallas to fire him. His contract expires on January 14.

u cannot make chicken salad out of chickenshit. nobody WAf is coming into this shite hole of a roster and cap situation.

nobody will come in here and want to lose knowing they will lose their job.

we might all not like it but DA had us losing. maybe we shoulda kept him until we were ready to get a franchise Qb and had loads of picks after trading vets and letting guys go the next 2 or 3 years. then fire his arse and get a new coach who could do something with new picks and drafts moving forward.

maybe mickey shoulda told him, look dennis, i am only keeping you because we are starting a rebuild, if you do not like it you can forfeit your salary and leave. otherwise we are going a new direction with a full tear down and rebuild like i want. i will supply the players. I'd start rebuilding and give him a shite ton of practice squad guys to get cap down and start wheeling and dealing and drafting my arse off.

Somebody must have some kind of dirt on Mickey to get his run out of town. Some kind of scandal or something.

McCarthy is not a horrible choice. DA was a horrible choice as a proven loser the Saints hired anyway. McCarthy has had plenty of success.
His best days are probably behind him, but I guess he could keep the Saints mediocre with Carr and a good draft. Loomis would likely keep his job another 3-4 years with 8-9 seasons.
Is this what I want? Not really, but the Saints would be watchable. The DA Saints were excruciating.

The sad part is whoever the next coach is will likely be fired in 3 years regardless.

Why would you think this? In what career are things fully merit based? People hire people they know and have worked with before people they don’t know. And of course that makes sense it’s smart to base a hire on actual previous experience instead of a few hours of an interview.

Also all these people mad about retreads make no sense to me. Winning a Super Bowl and being a seasoned head coach has less merit than being a coordinator for a few years? Like each of these failed head coaches was once a hot coordinator. Being an unknown doesn’t make you deserve a shot.

ETA: Literally the best coach in this league is a retread lol
