He got abused in that titans game.

Hasn't looked good all year.

He looked really good at RG during the preseason, then we moved him to OC after McCoy got injured.

Hasn't been the same since

We drafted him as a center, and he can't play the position, so I agree

In a world where we drafted Higgins or Pittman instead...

A better center was available in the 3rd round. It was an awful pick.

Yup. Two first rounders on him and Peat is not great…

Done drafting guards in the first round unless he’s the next Quenton Nelson.

He is fighting the urge to hike the ball from the RG position.

Which means jack since half the time it is against guys that will never see a real pro snap.

Preseason is an awful metric error future performance, especially from a 1st round pick at a position that wasn’t of need.

They were doing whatever they could to extend Brees career. His need for good OG play is well documented.

They didn’t draft Peat as a guard. He was a LT at Stanford. They put him on the right, but was too uncoordinated to learn the position so had to find a place for him

Ruiz isn’t a bust…yet. First he was one of THE youngest players in the draft that year (20). Had no real off season and changed positions after he proclaimed in pre draft interviews that he was BORN to play center. This year Drew isn’t calling protections and you can tell the communication just isn’t there. It doesn’t help that Siemian is a statue.

If anything this reminds me of Akiem Hicks when they inexplicably played him on the edge when he was a dominant interior player. Hicks went on to have an outstanding career. They also moved Zack Baun from edge rusher to middle linebacker and torpedoed his career

I’ve heard that McCoy was pretty pissed OFF when Ruiz was drafted. Ruiz can still be successful, but In hindsight you find another solution for guard, draft Patrick Queen, and use the Werner pick on Josh Palmer or Dyami Brown

Kind of dumb to be pissed off knowing Cs get moved to G often or vice versa. McCoy has been great, not like he was gonna get unseated. I guess maybe thinking he may get moved to G?

As far as Ruiz he was definitely awful against the Titans and I know he had another bad game earlier in the year. Overall he’s been average, he’s had some good games though. There’s no reason a 1st pick at C can’t translate to G over time. Our strength is our O and D lines (when healthy) they are the only reason we are even 500 right now. I know we’ve had Kamara and Demario Davis playing great, but with even average lines we’d be 2-3 wins at best at this point in the season. We saw that last game with Ram and Armstead out.

I hated the entire idea of drafting him to play center and moving mccoy.

If that's what they were going to do why haven't they done it by now
