I just get the feeling like the old guard is either incapable or unwilling to learn anything new. They think they can just play balls out and everything will work out.

I guess we didn't learn our lesson last year. Our defense sucked its way through the pre-season. Never got any better. Until they prove otherwise, I'm just gonna assume the defense still sucks.

I haven't seen the game yet, but this is probably true. Defense did suck majorly in the preseason and it held true when it counted.

Either way, a shitty defense in preseason is not a good sign. It CAN change, but...like LSUhoohoo said...I'm not gonna hold my breath.

If we can get some food OLB play we will be good enough to win a lot of games. I think we can be in the top 15-20 defense if we find a replacement for will smith. He just is too slow to play OLB.

I didn't see much of the first half, but this defense looks pretty decent in the second half.

Go Saints

Midway through the fourth quarter, KC has 162 total yards.

I'm sorry that you were born to be an idiot but you do realize that people will have TD drives against you in games. Plus we were playing a basic defense all game

The first preseason game last season Malcolm Jenkins had an interception on the first pass.

The defense looked bad, from the OLB spot. I really like the d-line, and I think that front could potentially be very good. The d backs looked good to me as well, along with ILB. They dinked and dunked. It was vanilla defense, and nothing close to what Ryan will run in actual games. I do have concerns at OLB for sure, but there are things I can take away from the game and be happy with. I also really am liking Vaccaro.

It's preseason dudes

I agree.

Smith might be a lost cause. What do you do at this point? I'd almost have any other olb on the roster over him.

How did Jenkins look?

You pretty much nailed it Smith. I fear him having to cover elusive, explosive backs or athletic tight ends alone in the flats. Offensive coordinators will definitely attack him there.

Jenkins looked good. He had a sack. He pushed the pocket & held his own against the run. The future of the D-Line looks bright. I'm anxious to see Martez Wilson & Junior back though. The first team OLB's were not impressive tonight.

Not that I expected much, but you're deluding yourself if you do not expect our defense to get raped this year.

Raped to what extent? As in they give up a shitload of yards, but are aggresive enough to force turnovers and make a few stops. Because that's what will happen.

As in giving up tons of yards and TDs. And why in gods name is will smith still on this team?!?!?
