I wouldn't say anywhere in New Orleans is one of the safest places in Louisiana

I'm curious - what do you think should be done to prevent this very crime?

According to this administration, continuous focus on statues is the obvious answer

People are just sick. Landrieu should call a press conference this morning and immediately order cease fire in the city. It sounds ridiculous, but action has to be taken because the city is a freaking war zone. But we know he is a coward, and sweep it under the rug like all the rest of the killings. I'm ashamed to say New Orleans is my hometown, because it's a disgrace of a city being run by a pussy of a mayor and corruption in City Hall

This is like a horrible dream. A Saints legend and better husband and father gone too soon. The violence must stop; you'll be missed Will!

They stayed at the scene and were cooperative. For sure this is going to be the narrative.

Keep the statues. What, you're not paying attention? Stick to the talking points!

I get that you think Mitch is focused on the wrong things. What do you think he should do?

If you were Mitch Landrieu, what would you do, specifically, that prevents this crime?

Yeah becuase they stated they recovered the shooters gun, but fails to say they found a gun on Smith.

And this would be the first time in history that someone claimed the other person reached for a guy that it would later turn out they did not have.

If Will Smith did not have a gun in NOLA he is crazy.

This was in the Garden District?

Anything sketchy about that area? "Lower" Garden District". I'm not trolling I honestly have no idea. 99% of my NOLA stories and dollars spent are in the Quarter.

Those boxy G-Series Benz's suck. For repairs and getting shot in high profile shootings.

The culture of feeling the need to carry a gun with you everywhere needs to change. We were supposed to evolve and leave the wild wild west in the past.

Oh man. If this is perceived as "anti-gun" prepare your anus!

The city has had problems for years but it has only gotten worse. It continues to seep into the FQ and better areas. Almost need to rebuild projects to keep shite contained.

The death penalty should be considered in these situations. And I am very forgiving and a very pro-life type of person. In clear cut cases like this, I think death penalty is an option.

Death penalty is only performed in extreme cases of premeditated murder. I agree that this is senseless murder and has no excuse, just saying now that the death penalty won't be carried out here.

This why I carry a gun everywhere I go. You just never know. Lots of evil out there.
