Overall, I thought Pete called a pretty good game outside the redzone. Aside from abandoning the run and refusing to throw a quick pass over the top (before the pass to Olave) to slow them from pinning their ears back, his redzone play calling this season has been atrocious. We simply can't score touchdowns. There is never even a remotely open reciever and we seemed to abandon the run every time we got there early last night. This has to be addressed somehow. I enjoyed Curry's preseaon offense in that one game. I say we give him a shot to call the redzone. What's the worst that happens? We dont score a TD?

It’s difficult to call plays when you have 1 RB who came off the practice squad and your Oline isn’t holding up pass blocking

A turnover that costs us 3 points in a 1 possession game

They don't trust the timing or OL is my honest thought

I think Kamara makes a difference in all facets of the Defense. If a LB or S HAS to account for him at all times, it takes someone out of pass rush, or doubling a WR, or a LB out of the middle for a Taysom run or TE fade

Failing to score on 1st and goal inside the 10 followed by that awful 3rd and 2 call would have been fatal against a better team

I thought they used Taysom good in the beginning getting him mixed in the offense. I did not like it when they put him in our first redzone at QB when we were on the 5, it was too bunched up and defense expecting the run and he got stuffed. I was hoping before the play was called that we get a fake rush and pull up pass from him.

The very next play pissed me off even more than that. We went empty backfield and had Taysom lined up wide left, why the hell would you line Taysom up wide left from the 5 yard line instead of 6'6" Jimmy Graham who just showed you multiple times in preseason that he can still jump up and box out a defender to high point the ball?!?!?!

It's the whole getting too cute and trying to outsmart matchups. Happens to coaches all the time; unfortunately for us it happens to Pete more than most.

And you didn't even need to get it to Jimmy in that situation, you also have MT, Perry, Juwan all as better options than Taysom in those close situations.

Probably what happened on the 3rd and 2 as well… they’d NEVER expect us to call a slow developing pass play with a deep drop back!

Yeah because they don’t think you could be that stupid

The only thing I can say is we scored 2TD this game instead of 1.

I saw Carr holding onto the ball for too long quite a bit. I'm not sure if the coverage was that good, or maybe they were plays with long developing routes, but it was driving me crazy.

We did run the ball better, but this is the second game in a row with 4 sacks and an interception. That's not a winning formula. We're lucky to have the defense we have.
