So the other report was even more poorly worded than I thought.

No because you’re paying Flacco $6 mil and you’re paying Kirk $1 mil
Not according to the more clearly worded Schefter report, which states he has $20 mil fully guaranteed from just the Raiders.

Which means that they are paying him $20 mil for 1 year compared to Flacco's $6 mil.

Edit:
Unless, of course, the Schefter report is flat out wrong. I haven't seen the actual details.

Yea its not a REAL 5 year deal but still makes you think if they put off taking the QB at 1. Maybe they aren't sold on him. It would mix things up for who is on board at 8 for sure

Not really. They would probably take Reese and Mendoza goes #2 to the Jets. Nothing changes.

Cousins has had 11 straight years of fully guaranteed money

He’s also thrown for 298 TDs and 45k yards.

He’s the definition of “pretty good” and had just enough seasons where he played really well compared to all but a few of his peers to keep the gravy train flowing.

Raiders have guaranteed Cousins a $10 million roster bonus on the third day of the 2027 new league year.

That's the day he passes Brady in NFL career earnings.

Also who would you want as your starting QB Tua or Cousins?

Not sure if there are any real winners here. He’s about shot as a QB

Here’s the text

in reality is a one-year, fully-guaranteed $20 million deal that also contains a club option for two years at $80M. The Falcons will pay Cousins $8.7 million this season, the Raiders another $1.3 million and Las Vegas also agreed to pay its new QB a fully-guaranteed $10 million roster bonus on the third day of the 2027 new league year.

Falcons are paying him $8.7mm, Raiders $1.3mm
10 guaranteed
ETA
I was thinking he had to be on the roster for the $10 million roster bonus in 2027, ie maybe cut him and avoid it, but Florio says he thinks it was their way of paying him $20 million and sticking the falcons with $8.7 of it. So I guess that bonus is gtd also

So he must have had some offset language in his contract with the Falcons if he was cut. That's the only thing that makes sense why the Falcons are paying part of a contract signed by another team.

But reading that, the Raiders have guaranteed him $11.3 mil, because while he gets paid that bonus on the 3rd day of FA 2027, it's already fully guaranteed.

So he is costing the Raiders twice as much as Flacco, and somehow also costing the Falcons more than Flacco. xD

Edit:
That is in addition to the already $22.5 mil he is on the cap for the Falcons this year (though he was already paid that money previously), and $12.5 mil he is on the cap for them next year (again already paid).

So they cut him and are on the hook for him for another $43.7 mil in cap ($8.7 mil in actual cash).

We had our hand forced with Carr retiring, but they had a choice and made a completely idiotic one.

I see no issue, Falcons screwed him over by drafting Penix after signing him.

That was something. I remember thinking that was a good sign for the Saints down the road… that the Falcons GM was that stupid.

No because I'll take the better more dependable qb. So 5 mil doesn't mean squat.

Terry Fontenot was a Saints staffer from 2003 to 2020 when he left to become the Falcons GM through this past season.

You’re welcomed Atlanta, glad we could help.

Raiders are my number two team after Saints. When I was a kid, Ray Guy and Todd Christiansen were some of my heroes.
