Hey, I'm just going by the linked thread on here. Rankings are for the most part subjective anyways.

Only point I'm making is, if the deal goes through, the Falcons immediately improve where the Saints lose proven quality depth. If the Saints match, it puts more pressure on the "kicking the can down the road" approach Loomis is taking.

That's my basis of saying it's a lose/lose situation. Like others have said, find the million and make him non-attractive to try to pluck.

The issues I see for you is drafting and breaking the habit of the yearly "let's buy a name in free agency" move.

Depth is a huge issue. You went from a #1 seed to a 4-12 because the lack of it, especially along the lines.

No one would be trying to pluck him for a 2nd rounder. He was good, but he was still only part time. We totally should have done that.

Found my post. I guess I didn't externally state my dislike of the move like I thought but the rest is still appropriate:

"I just think if I'm a GM of another team in need of a cheap safety with starting potential that Bush definitely fits that bill.

I don't think anyone's going to go crazy with big money, and maybe someone only gives him a $2m offer and we match so I guess in some way we are risking him vs. saving $1m on the cap vs. maybe only having to pay $2m in the end anyway.

The problem would come in if a team offered him more than $2m, even if it was at something like $2.5m. Now we have to pay more than the 2nd round tender if we want to keep him.

So this is definitely a big risk reward scenario."

I should have stated that last line better. Big risk/tiny reward. Well we aren't getting rewarded.

So now we wait for the numbers.

Not sure who you were watching. He got noticeable beat once early and a penalty bailed him out, but outside of Vincent fricking Jackson beating him deep I did not see him playing average ball. Dude was all over people, tight ends included.

Who releases contract details generally? Is it public knowledge released by the NFL? Agents? Leaked anonymously?

Depends but eventually they all come out. Maybe the NFLPA releases them once they're fully processed.

42 Tackles and 5 passes defensed makes him better than Vaccaro?

Bush and Moore the safety for atl are friends and have talked about playing together so maybe this is not a surprise. Per NFLnation.

The Saints previously offered Bush a one-year deal at the lowest qualifying offer of $1.431 million.

Sounds like the Saints know what they have/had.
I'm just not as pissed as a lot of you guys are.

Another bit of looking on the bright side is that perhaps atl thinks he's the answer so they don't reach in the draft for a player who would have turned out to be even better than Bush.

Hows that for sunshine pumpin?

I've had to think about this for a while. I really like Bush and think he's a really good role player, but he's not a great player or anything. The signing of Ball helps if he leaves, and we can bring back IAQ or Jerico Nelson if we have to.

Signed with Detroit. Even if he wasn't, I think him being cut near the end of the season last year (and signing Pugh after) shows that we aren't interested in bringing him back.

Its hard to see what the FO see's sometimes.
Are they thinking of White as a safety? He has good size and coming out of college he was predicted to be a safety not a corner.
Do they like Prob as a corner and are also targeting a CB high in the draft to be a 2nd or 3rd?

I'm also guessing that the atl offer is high.
