My prediction for 53

QB: Shough, Rattler
- Only 2 here

RB: Etienne, Kamara, Neal, Kendre Miller
- Kendre is cheap and as talented as it gets when healthy. Ride w him until hurt. Try to stash Estime and Donaldson on PSquad

WR Olave, Tyson, Vele, Polk, Lance, Brown
- Alford, Means, Austin Jr and Trey Palmer to PSquad

TE- Juwan, Fant, Delp
- Matavao to PSquad

OL- Banks, Fuaga, Edwards, McCoy, Ruiz, Radunz, Richards, Wright, Herron
- Simpkins to PSquad and Ruiz serve as primary backup center.

DL- Breese, Miller, Broughton, Godchaux, Shepherd, Ridgeway, Granderson, Young, Wilson, Cam Jordan, Jennings
-, Rumph, to PSquad

LB- Werner, Ellis, Stutsman, Stalbird, Ford

CB- Riley, Koolaid, Emerson, Yiadom

N- Blackmon, Styles

S- Reid, Sanker, Howden, Burgess

P Wright
K Smyth
LS Wood

I think PJ Hall has a better shot at nickel/star than Styles. At least he's a good tackler. Styles has more ST potential though.

Unless he has PS availability, I’d project Wilson is the backup and Rattler gets put on PS

Wilson was picked by CKM, so I think it’s safe to say he’s the favorite for the backup job.

I’m not Rattler fan boy, but I can’t imagine he would stay on the practice squad very long. Some team would want to pick him up. Best case scenario is we try to trade him for a late round pick. Hopefully he shows out in pre-season.

Rattler was a 5th Rd QB who has played above expectations for 5th rd QB's. We should be able to trade him for a 4th/ 5th pretty easily. Realistically a 3rd isn't even crazy considering he could be better than atleast 4 current starters in Sheuder- CLE, Brissett- ARI, Cook- Jets, Rudolph- PIT.

Neither of Estime/ Kendre are making it to the PS.

My favorite trades would be:

Kendre + 6th for a 5th
Rattler for 4th
Godchaux + 7th for a 6th

Frees up 3 roster spots that can already be filled and adds a 4th/ 5th for next year.

Trading those (3) guys post June 1st + cutting Yiadom gives us $11.7mil and we lose absolutely nothing.

You do that and still have $5-$10mil from an Olave extension, $5mil if we trade/ cut Shepherd, and $5-$10mil from Ruiz if we restructure or trade him.

We could still create about $30mil in cap without losing any key pieces.

Why is Yiadom catching a stray here??? IMO, if the plan is to cut Yiadom, you do it during preseason. Probably not getting anything in a trade for him, and gives another body in camp to take some reps

I doubt they restructure him. His contract is ripe for a clean-cut next offseason, but you need someone in his spot before you can pull the trigger. If Wright steps up, you may be able to do something before the trade deadline; but at that point he's probably more valuable as an iOL backup. If Wright can't fill the role, cut Ruiz next offseason and attack the position in FA like you did the RG spot.

Hearing alot of good things on Brock Rechsteiner….wonder if he could get that last WR spot

Its going to depend on how many WR spots we keep. I could see us keeping more WR's/ DB's this year for special teams utilization than in previous years.

I think Olave/ JJ end up the only 2 WR/ TE that started on the team last year and returned this year. 8/10 spots will be new. And that's amazing.

Agreed. That's stricly if we plan to somehow acquire a player and need the extra space. We won't just do it to do it.

Not catching any strays. A Yiadom cut frees up $2.7mil. For comparison Rattler + Kendre = $2.5mil. Cutting him allows us to add 2 minimum guys who have a higher ceiling and we still would have $$ left over.

Styles/ Hall cost a combined $2mil. So would you rather have Styles, Hall, and $700k or Issac Yiadom? Such an easy answers that its pretty much rhetorical.

OL Battle: (2)

People seem to forget that Will Sherman is still on the roster and played well last year. Often times, the offense looked better with him filling in for Ruiz.

Asim Richards is the only true swing tackle w/experience and they traded for him last year. Can't see him losing his spot to a developmental guy like Herron.

Also, Nick Saldiveri can frick right off. Wouldn't even bring his useless arse to camp.

Overall PFF Grade: 44.1 (ranked 0th among 81 qualified offensive guards).
Pass-Blocking Grade: 43.7.
Run-Blocking Grade: 42.7.
Will Sherman was so bad last year that out of 81 OG's they didn't even think he deserved to be ranked 81st.

A Herron and Saldiveri have all of the upside at OL. If either of those guys have a pulse then we keep either > any of Richards, Truss, Sherman.

Saldiveri is the only bench OL that has true starter potential, injury history aside. Healthy Saldiveri could easily be the best lineman off the bench and that could be for both OT and OG. But the hate is understood and he's definitely on the hot seat.

Saldiveri was put on the PUP list today after a failed physical. Looks like he's a goner.
