Let him walk.
Send him packing.
This is a business.

He misses what 6 games a year on average?
It's 5, but whose counting
Not including rookie year because he didn't start/play right away, this is what he missed: 2, 3, 9, 6, 6, 1, 2, 9
This also doesn't take into account the games that he started, then had to miss due to the injury that caused him to miss games. He is an elite LT when healthy, but it's a hell of an investment and risk for someone that hasn't been consistently healthy enough. Had he only missed 1-2 games last year, I could see the desire as it appeared his luck had made a turn for the better.
With all of that said, I will be surprised if they don't make a push to resign him since he will have a $13M cap hit due to the voidable years. With the way the front office works contracts, they could probably resign him for a $13M cap hit in 2022 and just take a bigger cap hit in another ~5 years.

His injury history will keep him from getting $20 mil a year even though his play his worth that. I was hoping $12 would do it which is what he made in his last contract with us when he signed at 26. He was a top 5 LT then too. If we can keep it at $15 mil annually he’s worth the contract. 3 years $45 million to protect Winston or Trubisky’ or whoever the QB will be’s blindside is a steal. But who knows, someone like Cincy or the Colts who have a need at LT and have plenty of money could say screw the injuries and offer him 4/$80 and then we can’t come close to matching that. I have a feeling we will have to make a choice between Armstead or Marcus Williams.

$15M annually would put him at the 12th highest LT, I don't see that happening. Maybe $15M cap hit in year one, but not on average.
Hell, the 4/$80 you suspect other teams to pay may still not be enough. He would then be the 4th highest paid LT at $20M

Miami has the most cap space in the league and they desperately need an athletic OT for their zone offense. It'll be hard to beat their offer especially when Florida doesn't have state income tax.

No it won’t. He will be arguably the most sought after FA of this class. Numerous teams are looking for a cornerstone LT and they have the cap to go get him

Him and Williams are gone. We have been trying to sign Williams long term for 2 years for some reason we haven’t come to terms. It’s odd cause we usually sign guys we want and spend good money.
He must not want to stay here or it would have happened. Armstead is also gone you let him hit the market cause we already know we don’t have the cap space. Two huge huge loses.
I for one am sick ove both. These are guys you hope to keep forever.

He's one of the few only players, who is injury prone but is so good it's almost worth it. I think it's time for Ram to move to RT though. He did at Wiscy. Pick someone else up. Maybe Collins. Armstead will be a Dolphin most likely.

Not one post in this thread about the veteran leadership & locker room presence that Armstead provides which is always the most overlooked aspect in situations like these.
