Playoffs should be 8 seeds…

I know they went from 6 to 7 a couple of years ago. But 7 is an odd number. Should be 8.
Just a random thought.

Should have beaten the Packers

Saints would still have been out I believe.

8 is too many in my opinion. I would be good with 6. The NFL is not the NBA where half the teams make it. There needs to be a reward for finishing top 2 in the NFC/AFC. The top 2 teams should get a bye. Forget watering down the playoffs.

Lol no it shouldn’t. 7 seems like a lot personally.

Let’s just put all teams in the playoffs, then give out participation trophy’s when they lose

They should be 6. That was a perfect format. 7 was only added in the pursuit of money

At least it is not the dumpster fire that is the LHSAA where almost every team makes it.
I would support an additional team to get a bye.
Heck you could expand it to where all division champions get a bye. The 8 wild cards play each other to advance into the playoff bracket. But you now have 12 teams eligible for the post season. With 16 teams in each Conference 4 teams are not eligible for the playoffs.
I think in 2006, the Saints were the 2 seed and had a bye. They won had to travel to Chicago for the NFC Championship.

Should be 6
1) A #2 seed shouldn't have to play an extra game against some crap team with barely a winning record.
2) Playoffs should be a reward for having a very good season and being well above average, not going 9-8. When fans are debating whether they want their team to lose for a better draft pick next year or win to make the playoffs in the same/last week of the season, that's a good indicator you're putting too many teams in the playoffs.

7 is too many as it is. Should’ve stayed at 6, adding an extra team was just a cash grab (same as MLB).
