I don't believe he got the ultrasound until he got over there, meaning the clot issue might not have happened but for the int'l game

Seems like a dangerous game to play in a contact sport. Player safety?

they're gonna end up giving these dudes a heparin shot right before they take off

however, he already had a superficial thrombus they found a few weeks ago, so he already had the risks in the making

normally the clots are passed with ease but since it is jalen hurts, they are very concerned due to his lack of passing ability.

He got spiked in the calf I believe in practice. They found the superficial clot which is generally pretty benign. But if it’s near the junction of deeper venous vasculature it can get a bit hairy. I haven’t followed it enough since the initial diagnosis of a superficial clot but obviously there were some deeper issues as well if it’s ended up as a PE.

The issue is the international travel could've caused it to worsen into the DVT and then into the lungs though. I don't see how you let him back on a plane after discovering it

Certainly not ideal.

Like I don’t think it’s that big a stretch to say that guys who play an ultra violent game with lots of bruising, soft tissue injury , etc probably run a bit more of a risk on a long flight afterwards. But you could say the same thing if they fly from Seattle to Philly afterwards.

I dunno but he needs to take it seriously. Seems like he is. My mother passed away in 2018 from a PE she didn’t know she had. At least they caught his quickly and can maybe do something about it.

That's a fair point. Might be an overreaction then and the eagles are just incompetent

I’d be willing to bet there are some puckered buttholes in that training/med staff

These young and rich athletes travel abroad during the offseason with no trouble

Possibly some risk of dehydration after playing as well, which that, combined with prolonged immobility (travel), can certainly increase the risk for a DVT to develop. This whole situation with Hurts is very strange.

I might be misremembering, but didn't he have an issue with something similar in college?

ETA: I looked it up, he didn't. I'm vaguely remembering something, but I can't place it.
