Topper’s a maniac, that vacancy is prob the best one for the Saints outside of Dallas.

He has definitely shown price doesn't matter, but Payton would need to believe in Baker to make Carolina make sense bc w/ the cost to get Payton they really wouldn't be in position to draft a QB for the next few years.

I think Chargers would be the ideal fit, I just don't know if they would part with their HC this soon. Plus, with late picks, the price would definitely go up.

Saw an article the other day that had some interesting options:
Pittsburg - Don't see it happening, but SP would already have his young QB

Raiders - settled for McDaniels, and have a capable QB in Carr that Payton should be able to work with, mold

I see the Chargers for sure. I see the Bengals being interested but I cannot see Payton wanting to work for the Browns.

Chargers should be a no brainer if he is looking for a team that will most likely fire their coach. I do not see the Bengals firing their coach after a super bowl appearence, though his play calling sucks arse. Sean with that Bengals offense would be a fun sight to see.

It doesn’t matter what Tepper would give if Payton ain’t going there, which he isn’t.

Jerry Jones keeps guys around longer than he should.

Bengals another franchise that will keep a coach for a while so I don’t see Taylor going anywhere yet.

Staley has been taking a lot of heat for his decisions, and team is underperforming.

Anyone else think the raiders are a dark horse team for Payton?

Everyone has a price no matter how bleak the situation appears.

If they offered him 20 million a year he is at least going to hear them out.

No, mostly because Davis is one of the poorest owners in the league.

Arent they still paying Gruden? Then they'd have to pay Mcdaniels to not coach. On top of making sean one of the highest paid in the league.

100% agree. Tomlin is a really good coach and last year can easily be attributed to Ben being at the end of the line, this year is a rebuild with bringing in a rookie QB. It would take another 2-3 years of being slightly better than mediocre for Tomlin's seat to get warm

Always forget this. Stil a higher probability to go w/ a 31 y/o Carr, than a slightly older Wilson who is showing obvious signs of decline.

i could see getting a first from san diego. denver could be likely if payton thinks he can straighten out wilson and the offense. both teams have good rosters and he would have a shot at winning immediately. agree that carolina makes no sense unless he thinks highly of one of their qbs.

I'd love the picks but god I would hate seeing Payton with the cowboys

Saints can make move up draft board get QB in Payton trade. I think San Diego will be an option. I can see teams fire a coach to aquire Payton. Dallas is one of them.

If it’s less than two firsts or something equivalent I will be disappointed

It is too bad that the league does not let you trade salary capital.

A first round pick and $10 million in salary cap would be a nice prize.

A pick and $10 million goes into the owner's pocket, but for example if the league took $10 million from the Cowboys and gave it to the Saints. The same amount would be spent on the players.

Payton walked away from here at 3 years for $45mil. He's already itching to get back into it. This whole scenario will change as the season rolls on. Teams will take their shot between now and seasons end rather than waiting for someone else to scoop him up. Long term proven successful offensive minded coaches are Gold. Hopefully the front office really does their homework on this and cross their t's and dot their I's.

When is he a free agent? Before the 2024 season? Or 2025
I’d aim for 2 first before next year. Try to get a first if it’s 2024. He won’t sit out another year if that’s the case.

The CJ Johnson deal kind of has me a bit worried.

Yes, i know the circumstances around that. But that showed me the office is not above making a rash decision.

I still feel like they made that eagles pick with the first knowing they'll recoup in a Payton deal. I dont think there is any way we can move him without at least 1 first.

His contract ends after the 2024 season so that would make it Feb. 2025

He's ready now and their are teams that will be chomping at the bit. He will be somebodies Head Coach by this time next year.
