Payton will try to poach our coordinators

When he inevitably comes back, there’s no doubt he tries to poach our staff.
Will Mickey nut up and block anyone from leaving, professional courtesies be damned? Similar to blocking Nielsen from leaving last offseason

They may not be on our staff by then. We could have complete turnover by the draft

Depending how next year goes, we might want to let him

Our coordinators may not even be here when Payton returns to coaching. Relax.

Mickey is in a tight spot ... with Payton bailing, professional courtesy is all that we have to keep our reputation intact with other coaches. It is the same issue that the Pelicans are plagued with. He will have to play nice so that others say nice things about us, or we won't be able to get others to come here. NOLA is at a huge disadvantage when players and coaches aren't drawn to the winning organization.

It’ll be a good one to bump next year when his smug arse is at the Cowboys’ podium

Completely disagree. He wouldn't be doing his job if he just let Payton go. You get as much compensation as possible to make the job as attractive as possible. I think a coach coming in would value this.
Payton is already on record for praising Loomis. He has always spoken highly of him.
I'm sorry, but a coach considering New Orleans is going to be more concerned with the roster than what a GM got for the coach. I just don't see your point whatsoever. He doesn't need to "play nice." Payton himself would understand this as a competitor. LOL at "playing nice." It's a business.

You can't poach for lateral moves in the NFL. Everything is permission based and upward movement based. It's not College.

Really depends on how they approach it. New coach from outside the organization may very well bring in a whole new staff. Promote from within, and depending on how they juggle the current staff, that staff may be more loyal to new coach.
If DA gets the job and Nielsen or Richard is DC, I don’t see them leaving for a lateral move. Also, give Carmichael play calling duties, he won’t go back to Payton where he doesn’t get those responsibilities

That’s really the assumption I’m going with.
If we hire Allen, promote Carmichael and Nielsen, it really fricks our plan if Payton comes calling next year and the coordinators leave.
I’d rather hire new blood at HC if Mickey is going to let us be cucked like that. Interesting possibility, but I still take the chance with DA and crew to see what happens

I don’t see any chance Nielsen leaves as DC of the saints to take a job as DC of the cowboys just because of Payton.
I’ve been wrong plenty before though
