Per Underhill’s Twitter

quote:

Payton said on releasing Marshall "we feel like Ted is close to coming back." Noted that Marshall could still come back.

I would assume so. They could activate him sometime really soon and that’d give him the last Panthers game as a tune up and then he’ll have an extra week of rest if we get the bye and he’ll be ready for the divisional

Ginn still has to practice for two weeks before he can play.

So when does Chad start a new thread about trading Ginn?

Bad info from a Saint's reporter (Underhill?) on twitter. Ignore.

Today would make 8 weeks exactly from the day he was placed on IR. From my understanding he could play this week if activated. But it sounds like he needs another week. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was back next week and if activated was on a snap count and worked back slowly.

He needs two weeks of practice before he can be activated. No indication that clock has started yet.

ETA: apparently the above comment is wrong, as others have noted. I did bad and I feel bad.

I haven’t been able to find this two week practice rule anywhere. Do you have a link? Talib was just activated and played without practicing for 2 weeks. IR players aren’t even able to practice with the team before they’re activated from what I’ve read.

Players on IR are allowed to start practicing with the team after missing the first 6 games of 8. But once they’ve missed 8 games nothing I’ve found has said anything about a mandatory 2 week practice period before being able to play. After the 8 weeks they are eligible to play if activated. This past weekend made 8 games that he missed.

According to roto “ginn is eligible to resume practicing - or playing - whenever the saints wish.”

Okay thanks for that. I was going by what Underhill or someone said that he HAS to practice for two weeks first.

It's been a while since I read the rule myself so I couldn't remember if the practice period was mandatory or not.

So it seems it's not and he can still play as early as this week. My bad.

It would be a pretty illogical rule if that were the case. Although it wouldn’t be the first
