Well look at it like this,
IF the offense can take about 4:30 to score a TD here, then at least halftime can act as defense and get the Patriots off the field then the Saints get the ball to start the second half.

That's the whole con. You bait him into making bad throws that he completes for 400 yards in the first half then bam! You bat one of those ducks down in the 4th quarter. It's an art that takes patience.

I don't understand why hopeless defenses don't send the house more. You aren't going to stop them anyway, you'll get more rest if they score faster, and you'll get a few late hits on the QB at least
