Is he completely off the Saints board? I know there are bigger needs...just wanted to get everyone's thoughts.

I'm not against the position necessarily but i'm not quite sure why He's an elite prospect with such a slow 40. I watched some highlights... i just don't understand the absurd love for him. Maybe i'm missing something. Also a 6'4 safety is a bit unusual as well.

I made a thread a while back about guys who may fall and Hamilton was my #1. This was my original comment:

If he falls, he would be in play.

He is an absolute definition of ball hawk. His INT against FSU is a great example. He has been the key to the ND defense for the past few years, and it was very clear in the Fiesta Bowl when he didn't play. He would be a steal in the mid to late teens.

speed is kind of essential when it comes to a back end ball hawking safety....

of course it is but when is the last time someone launched from a dead stop Olympic style starting position to a full sprint with no pads on the football field. Even defensive back are are normally in motion when transitioning into a full sprint. Top end speed is more important I watched randy moss burn corners who ran better 40's than him his whole career.

And he was a zone corner. In a damn near perfect situation with players around him. He didn't follow the #1 receiver. He stayed on 1 side of the field. Was he great for that defense yes. Was he a prototype of a shutdown corner? No.

Ed Reed ran a 4.57. Sharper a 4.64. Hamilton's agility numbers are more worrisome IMO.
