Not doubt we will be 2nd or 3rd tier, guess it depends on what openings are out there as they all have their flaws.
NYJ: One of the worst run franchises in the league. Tied to ARod for 1 more year and have some good cap space to work with, $33M. Need a new GM as well, that could alter where they rank
Saints: Desperate need of a rebuild, cap in the hole $63M, but GM appears to give HC more control over roster than other teams
Potential openings
NYG: $60M in cap space. In need of a franchise QB or vet to hold them over until they cap draft one
Dal: Meddling owner, $24M in cap space, but stuck with Dak for another 3-4 years
Chi: Poorly ran organization. Can't draft a QB to save the franchise, Caleb on a rookie deal for another 3-4 years, $82M in cap space
Cincy: Burrow locked up for another 5 years, $65+M in cap space, shitty ownership
LV: Another poorly ran organization. Need franchise QB, but have $112M in cap space
Jax: T-Law tied down for the next 6 years. $62M in cap space. I know the front office is a shitshow administratively, but not sure how that impacts the HC and decision making authority
Because of the cap situation, Saints could be between 6-8 in the pecking order. But that HC will need some language to allow them 2-3 years to shake up the roster from the dead cap, void year, aging vets, overpaid contracts...

And ownership/management have proven to be very loyal to coaches they hire. Sometimes to a fault.

We went from a multi year veteran at qb with healthy wrs to rookie year Spencer rattler with the top 2 wrs out.

He was unable to change his game plan around to counter those losses.

What did you want his game plan to be? Run Kamara 90 times a game? The reality is it probably really didn’t matter what our game plan was those few weeks. An OC isn’t going to magically make that big of a talent disadvantage disappear.

Shorten up the passing game where you 7th string oline isn't having to hold blocks for plays to develop. There ways to help the offense. I guess he should have asked Shannahan for some advice.

If Rizzi keeps winning, Loomis will choose the path of least resistance and just keep him in place.

Doesn’t sound like a bad option if he keeps winning. Right?
But I’m 100% certain the Saints will interview a deep pool of potential HCs.

People really want baalke out. Team has to be near top of potential openings in terms of young pass rushers and skilled position players. If one of these guys thinks he can play to TL strengths it has to low key be one of the most desirable jobs with the no state income tax, and willingness of Khan to invest in new facilities and now stadium.

Yeah maybe… no real judgment here, just saying we have seen Loomis do the oath of least resistance before
