On a scale of 1-10 where would you rate the need at WR for this team?

First of all, I'm not saying use a 1st rounder on one but am talking later on in the draft or if possible, in free agency?

Olave needs another guy across from him and Mike T most likely is a goner.

Shaheed is dynamic and his speed can take the top off of a defense but it looks like he could use work on route running? I'm not hating on him at all. I think he needs to get the ball more but it feels like he's mainly just relying on speed but he's still a young player, so he's still got plenty of time to improve.

A.T. Perry had 12 catches on just 18 targets but also scored 4 TD's which was just one less than Olave and Shaheed who both had five. Maybe he's a guy that will step up and build off a small sample size from his rookie season?

But also, just how good are these WR's at run blocking. If the new offense wants to have more of a focus on running, then downfield blocking will be huge. Lynn Bowden is a good blocker but when he was in the game last year it was also a tell of what kind of play was coming.

So, whether it's through the draft or FA, I'd say it's a 7.

Line play particular the O-line is the biggest concern to me but WR can't be ignored in my opinion.

So your scale is not really 1-10.

well, if people only focus on where a player is drafted instead of how they play, that's their fault.

Do think we are set at WR or not Mr. Goat?

I would give it a 6. Really just need one more guy because I do think Perry can take the next step. Would prefer a cheap vet over a draft pick because whoever it is will need to play some right away. If we do draft instead I just hope its in the mid/late rounds because there will be some solid values in this deep class.

If Harrison is somehow there at 7, move up to get him.

Saints have zero elite offensive players past an aging Kamara.

Yeah. Devery Henderson was such a diverse threat. Had speed and blocked well. Brandon Coleman never really came around like we hoped but he could block and was 6'6??

Trequan Smith a punching bag for this board, for all his other short comings, could block downfield.

I maintain that's a reason why Burns got fired at WR's coach, I think. Well, hell, every offensive coach got fired so that's a moot point by me.

Depends on what the new offensive coaches are looking for. But I think we should draft a guy in the mid rounds and sign a mid-tier one in free agency. AT Perry's development will also be key. Really played well toward the end of the season, if he can take a big jump in his development, that would be great.

We only have 3 WR's under contract so adding at least 2 more is a given.

I have no clue as to what they will be looking for in adding Wr's in this new system. Olave is obviously the #1, Shaheed is the x-factor and I'm excited to see how his role expands. Perry is a solid 3 or 4 WR and showed a lot of promise in his limited reps.

I could see a veteran that the staff is familiar with coming over in FA, as well as a rookie. I wouldn't rule out anything in the draft including a 1st round WR if one of the top guys falls. If they're looking for a true #2 guy I could see the 2nd round being a spot to add a quality WR. Then there's the possibility of picking up a late 1st if they trade Lattimore.

One thing I will say is I'm not certain the big physical type WR is a necessary target in this new system. I hear a lot of talk about players like Malachi Corley, (5'10"-215lbs), Roman Wilson (5'10"-185lbs), Malik Washington (5'8"-192lbs) as being players they would be possible targets for this new offense. Players in the Zay Flowers, Josh Downs, Tank Dell mold that this team passed on our otherwise would not have had interest in because of their size, now becoming attractive targets in the draft.

I’d rather just build the lines back up for the next coach/qb. Can get young WRs every year. I do know that our current WRs are nowhere near the physicality of SFs. Everyone on that team plays like they’re on bath salts. I’m sure they’ll want someone a bit more physical in the run after the catch if they’re trying to replicate that offense at all.

We probably need another body, but it will need to come from later in the draft. I’d rank it a 6 or 7.

OT - 10
Pass Rusher - 10
OT - 8
DT - 8
Safety - 7
LBer - 7
WR - 6.5

OG - 5
TE - 4
CB - 4

If we are lucky, maybe Johnny Wilson, Luke Pearsall or Luke McCaffrey fall to the 5th or 6th. But we might be looking at guys like Isaiah Neyor or Jah’Quan Jackson. We should know a lot more about these guys after the combine.

My hope is that somehow Keon Coleman tanks his stock and we can get him in the 2nd round maybe.

I agree. I like that approach the most as far as team building but God they've whiffed recently. So, when the coaches meet with the scouts hopefully new fresh ideas of what kind of player they need for the system, things will get better.

it's not just yards after the catch. Shaheed is fast enough that he can win with speed. But right now, he's limited in touches and maybe with more of an infusion wth play action, he'll get more chances.

But what you said about being physical, you need that in a WR who is a willing blocker down field also. We used to have some good ones. I already mentioned them.

That's why I was thinking you bring in a player like that in free agency that the public would be like, "oh I drafted him on fantasy my team and he screwed me."

like just not understanding the idea of a role player and focusing on what college they went to and how fast they run the forty.
