Tried warning you baws on draft night. All of that draft capital and we didn’t even draft the correct receiver tbh.

He’s been better this year, but it was always an awful trade.

This is Olave's production over the past 2 seasons.

72 1,042 4TDs
87 1,123 5TDs

Only Saints fans would complain about this type of production

At the time I just couldn't believe the Eagles got AJ Brown for a lot less in the same draft, and our 9th overall pick the next year. Obviously not saying we could have done it, you still had to take on his contract. It's just crazy.

Never even spent half of that trying to get Drew a receiver.

Look at the wasted picks over the past seven years and what GM makes it out alive? Abysmal drafting, cap hell, having to let players like Hendrickson walk, extending aging vets until their kids go to college to spread out the dead money.

And some people blame an injury or two for derailing a season. It’s because we don’t build rosters under loomis post CSP/Brees. We patch them.

There is nothing wrong with Olave the player in a nutshell. But to just post gross stats without context is retarded. You can get that kind of production (a lot of which was Andy just hyper targeting him in games we were losing by a decent amount) for cheaper. We were never a Chris Olave away from being a dominant offense or even a good one.

Honestly felt they were banking on Michael Thomas being the elite #1 with olave being what they wanted cooks to be.

But the fact is, we sucked at drafting the last 4 years

He’s also an awful fit with Carr

Unfortunately he’s concussion prone and likely out of the league for his own sake in 1-2 years.

No. He is a good asset to this team, especially compared to some of the other draft choices, but he definitely was not worth that amount of draft capital. He is not Jerry Rice.

I woukd have been fine taking Olave at our original spot. But when you trading multiple picks to move up, he better be a bona fide number one.,

Olave just isn’t that. The receiver class was pretty deep that year. Think I even mentioned getting Pickens later who went in the second.

Can anyone really argue that Olave is much better than him. He’s had horrible qb play his entire career with numbers similar to Olave.

You kill a lot of depth trading away those picks and missing badly the years you do have them.

Issue is we were never going to get him @18.

Lets just look at value:
11th = 1250

18th = 900 (we traded 16th = 1000)
98th = 108
120th = 54
= 1062 (we traded them 1162)

Honestly thinking 18 + 98th (3rd) + 101st (3rd - 96) would have gotten it done

If so, we would have saved a 1st and 2nd from the philly/penning side of things.

Pickens

I liked him, but he's turning into a headcase. As rumblings occur, Olave isn't quite THAT extreme.

I wanted Jameson Williams. And yes, I do realize he had a slow start to his career. But he’s proven to be a game breaker near the end of last year and the start of this year. I thought if we were going to make a trade like that, at least draft the guy with the Tyreek Hill upside. (But 5 inches taller)

No, it wasn't worth it.

Said it at the time.

Most on here defended that trade. Olave is small.
