Have yall seen Taysom? He is an elite athletic specimen much like myself. He'll be a top tier weapon for at least another 3 seasons

I don't think you understand what this thread is actually discussing man.
I do. Its an attempt to predict the 2025 cap.
LINK
This article addresses that the Saints deadcap in 2023 is ranked 12th in the NFL. Not last.
It also states the obvious, which is that our future cap depends on (in ranked order) what happens with Cam, Ramzcyk, Mt13, Peat, Lattimore, Carr (willing to restructure), etc.
To summarize, none of you has a fricking clue what our 2025 cap will be.
And stop crying and beleiving SFP.
Our deadcap is being managed, as always.

I don't need to believe anyone including SFP about the situation of our cap. I never worried about it much as it was manageable for what we were trying to do roster wise at the time. But the elephant is in the room now and I'm among the most optimistic fans here.

Mate how did you get a Heckin™ "TM" logo in your thread title?

Who said we were first?
We may be first in 2025, but nobody said we were first this year. Our issue is being a non-contender who is always in the top 3rd of the league.
Your huge dead cap teams should fall into 3 categories:
1. Complete rebuild
2. Had to cut a QB early
3. Overspending for a title
You get lots of overlap in those categories (rebuilding teams often will have to cut a QB early, and they should be coming off a brief period of overspending for a title just prior to that rebuild).
Here are the top 12 this year:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: $75.32MM - Rebuild and cut a QB (won the South, too)
Los Angeles Rams: $74.23MM - Rebuild
Green Bay Packers: $57.14MM - Traded a QB
Philadelphia Eagles: $54.73MM - Going for a title
Carolina Panthers: $51.54MM - Rebuild (and shite show)
Arizona Cardinals: $36.96MM - Rebuild
Tennessee Titans: $36.56MM - Should be rebuilding but deluded like NO.
Minnesota Vikings: $35.54MM - Started a mini-rebuild, dealing a star RB and letting a star DT go. Thielan was also an expensive departure.
Houston Texans: $31.72MM - Rebuild
Las Vegas Raiders: $29.95MM - Who the frick knows
Indianapolis Colts: $24.89MM - Rebuild and cut a QB
New Orleans Saints: $24.58MM
Also, read your own article:
quote:
And right now the Saints are carrying just over $29.2 million in dead money — a figure that ranks 12th around the league, and which makes up about 12.9% of their salary cap commitments this season. That’s a far cry from the 21.2% and 26.5% dead money charges the Saints had to work around the last two years. Folks, that’s progress.
THAT is the issue. The Saints are always in the top of the league in dead cap, that means every year we fight with one arm tied behind our backs with 20%+ of our cap eaten away. 2025 is going to be closer to the 30% range and that's if we extend players who don't deserve it AND without cutting a QB.
When we extend Carr, we're going to set up one of those insane 50M+ dead cap hits for a single player at some point, but unlike TB this year, we will have 15-20% of our cap already eaten up with dead cap in addition to that huge hit.

Maybe thread will get stickied.

Naw it's for like 18 months out. I just made the thread to have a place to update the OP. I have a Googlesheet for all of this too.
Some of OP will change because I imagine we may have to extend some guys we should be cutting and may have to cut/trade some guys we're not thinking about.
Then, as the thread brought up, Peat may be retained.

I would like to know Peats grade when playing LT this year. Was it his best job? I never threw anything at the tv screen is my only barometer
