I like this draft. Not a lot of star power, but every single player looks to have a decent shot at making the roster. You don't usually see that; but you don't normally see a potential 3rd rd pick drop to the 6th either.

Same here. I don't remember a Saints draft where I think hardly no one doesn't make the team. We held firm 1-3 then did what we wanted to do after that to move and get who we wanted in almost every round without selling out on our future pics.
And getting AT for trout and cutting 2.3 mil at the same time was icing on the cake.

Only thing I disagree with you, and not at you, is the fact that we only have a 1st, 2nd (via Sean Payton trade to Denver), 5th, and 2 6ths next year. We did sell out a few future picks unfortunately due to prior trades.

That's definitely a win regarding the cap space.

true, we will have a dim outlook in next years draft, and they will most likely package the 5th and both 6ths to move up to the 3rd round similar to what they did this year.
maybe we can do some more trading with teams who still have needs, or get some comp picks somewhere

I'm no expert with the draft, but I'm incredibly stoked by this group. Filled needs and we got great value. Not bad at all.

We’re going to have multiple compensatory picks in the middle rounds next year. That’s why the knew they could trade some of next year’s picks.
The whole thing is a shell game and the aggressive are rewarded.

hope you are right, but where are these picks coming from? we lost players and replaced them with veterans, doing that usually makes it a wash and no comp pick
ui think we might have 1 coming but not if we sign another FA vet which they likely will do if anothers teams TE gets released

Period for setting 2024 compensatory picks ends Monday. That's why most teams will wait now until Tuesday to move on veteran FAs if they're due compensatory picks as it stands as of today. Veteran FAs signed from Tuesday on will effect 2025 Draft picks.
Don't ask me why.

Ross Jackson from Locked on Saints is saying we think we’ll have 3 (2 4ths and 1 6th I think). I don’t know how the formulas work, but I’m trusting him.
