I'm seeing next to nothing in there that anyone did besides coach williams blatantly ignoring orders to stop the bounty (minimal though they may have been) and joe vitt not reporting correctly.

This is NOT hard evidence at all, it's bullshite and butthurt all wrapped up in a 3 page bullshite sandwich.

That, and the league told the Saints in 2010 that if there was a bounty system, it should be ceased immediately, which they refused to do

You didn't see where he flat out lied to Goddell about prior knowledge? Maybe you should read it again

Reading this, I wouldn't be so surprised if Benson fired him for this.

If all this is backed with proof (which I honestly think it is, you don't bring insane suspensions up on pure hearsay, but there have been stranger things), Payton and crew continually lying does not come across too well. Still, a year though?

The Saints and the individuals disciplined today are expected to participate in efforts led by the league office to develop programs that will instruct players and coaches at all levels of the game on the need for respect for the game and those who participate in it, on principles of fair play, safety and sportsmanship, and to ensure that bounties will not be part of football at any level.

This is possibly the single most insanely hypocritical thing ive ever read,. frick Goodell and the NFL.

The thought might cross his mind, then he will be reminded he may as well let Drew walk.

After reading that, it's clear we're getting hammered for trying to bullshite the boss, not for the bounty program per se.

How could any sane person even think this? How is the NFL hypocritical? I don't believe they support trying to injure players and lying. The Saints got what they deserved. They caused the Vikings to lose the NFC championship game due to the dirty hit on Favre. I'd guess that Benson fires all coaches involved in this despicable scandal.

Vilma just retired

Not sure about retiring, but I think the Saints will have to cut him now. And I suspect Lofton's asking price just went way up!

It's like SMU getting hammered with the Death penalty and the NCAA saying "we will do our best to avoid any payment of collegiate athletes," when we all know that most , if not, all of the big schools do the same exact thing. You mean to tell me that teams like Pittsburgh and Baltimore don't do something similar to this? Let's get real, here. The Saints got in trouble because they LIED and Godell took it personal, plain and simple. You think it's fair that Bill Belichick stole other teams play calls and filmed their practices and got a slap on the wrist?

Oh, and the Vikings lost the NFC Championship game because of their 5 turnovers. Putting hits on Favre didn't force him to throw an interception to the other side of the field on a possible game winning drive.

What a fricking joke. Can anyone see anything wrong with this statement? Is Goodell this retarded?

And?

Defensive players get paid millions to be nasty. Hell, I get bonuses when I'm particularly effective at work. Were they saying "it's ok to get a penalty as long as you take them out," or were clean but nasty plays encouraged? If it's the latter, I see absolutely nothing wrong with the bounties.

Da frick did they need a bounty for that Scam Newton bitch? They would have been better off throwing that bounty money in the gutter than spending it one a fraud like Newton.
