I heard that Ruiz didn’t get the start today. Looked like Easton took his spot, but was it for the whole game? Think it’s just because they’re figuring out he’s a liability?

I think he’s held his own as a rookie. He’s not having the rookie year Ram did but how many do?

They’ve rotated Easton and Ruiz a good bit. I don’t think it’s an indictment on Ruiz as much as it is trying to ease him in a little bit.

Seems like he plays a series, if mistakes occur they pull him and teach him the mistakes a few series. He also watches what easton does.

If no mistakes occur, he seems like he stays in longer.

Just noticed he didn’t start, or play much. First game he didn’t start, in a while

Not having a full camp is significantly impacting Ruiz, IMO

Agreed. He will be a stud in this league.

This. If Peat stays healthy, Easton should get most of the playing time from here on out

I think it has to do with Grady Jarrett. He trusts the veteran vs rookie against the guy that was most of the reason we jettisoned warford.

This is one of those SP head scratchers. Easton is good. He came in as a pretty solid starting NFL guard, then SP parked him on the bench to rot while guys like Cam Tom and Clapp got reps last year. Now he's in the mix and playing well. If Ruiz is gettin any time over Easton, id say thats a good sign for Ruiz's future.

Hurst is another interesting story. He was a full time starter at G in Baltimore, got extended, then lost his job and was dumped. It's telling that they'd let him man LT when they trust Peat so much out there. He's a true swing man and a really nice piece for a talented, but oft banged up line like ours.

I think it may still be a little too early and they have to put their best option out there. I’m not saying he’s a bust or he sucks. But right now Easton is the better guard. I’d guess next year that changes. We are trying to win a super bowl so we don’t have time for him to learn anymore.

Ruiz gives up too many pressures. Easton has been steadier. However, Easton did not have a great game against Atlanta. Guard remains the weakest link on an otherwise strong team. Payton will have to use a back and TE to stay in and block if we have to play Aaron Donald in the playoffs. Not doing so will be inviting disaster. Weak guard play was the reason we lost to Minny last year in the first round.

Atlanta brings a lot of blitz packages. Need to have good communication and experience on the offensive line to pick that up.

Just saw the snap count. Ruiz played 0 offensive snaps, with a few on special teams. Ouch

I think Ruiz will be solid but he doesn’t look ready to be the guy right now
