Defensive penalties seem to be way more damaging than anything offense has. DPI is an automatic first down, spot foul. Offensive is just 10 yards, no loss of down. Same with holding, defense is 5 yards and offense is 10 yards, but defense is an auto first and offense is no loss of down. So 1st and 10 can be 1st and 20, but 3rd and 20 becomes 1st and 10 despite only being 5 yards.
It's so dumb how much more damaging a penalty is to the defense than the offense on average, by a large margin
