What does it say when we spend 2 1st and draft a project in Davenport..the next year we are courting a former 1st rd pick who will command at least 9 milion?

I’m not saying he is a bust because it is to early but seriously, is that something we needed to do? Something we could afford to do since the window is so narrow?

Cam plays way too many snaps. Davenport will continue to grow but there has to be a rotation to keep legs fresh at the end of the season. I think that you should review the # of pass rushers that the Eagles rolled out during their SB season.

He’s not a bust and the Saints knew when they drafted Davenport he would need time to learn on the job. I’d say he exceeded their expectations last year. He proved to be a very good pass rusher and showed his toughness playing through a bad turf toe injury most of the year while still playing at a solid level. I expect Davenport to make a big leap this year now that he has some experience. I expect he will have 8-10 sacks this season and become the everydown DE opposite Jordan we have been looking for since the Will Smith Charles Grant days.

You can never be too stacked with pass rushers and corners. And it never hurts to inquire.

You can't just leave the same two guys out there all game. Have to have guys on the bench rotating in that can wreck shite too. The depth at DT kept guys from being gassed at the end of games and was a big part of why we were #1 against the run.

Let’s talk about Mr. DavenPORT

PFWA AND PFF - ALL rookie teams

4.5 sacks and showed toughness playing through a bum toe the second half of the year

WAY better than advertised vs. the RUN

Was by all accounts a model teammate

MORE IMPORTANTLY.....

Trey Flowers - 90M
Oliver Vernon - 85M
Chandler Jones - 82M

This is the asking price for what we believe he can turn into....these type players don’t come available and if they do you’re forced to overpay in money/draft picks. If he continues his trajectory, we NOW have our heir apparent to Cam Jordan, but for now they get to terrorize QBs together for the next 5-6 years. Really hope Rankins can come back stronger

Didn’t he have a multiple sack game as well? How long has it been since a Saints rookie did that? A while I bet.

To me, he was really figuring it out in the second half. Traded a 2019 first and swapped the other one.

I feel good about our depth if we can just bring Okafor back. He’s the key because he can play both DE and shift inside to play DT on passing downs. Hendrickson is just fine as a 4th DE and Onyemata and Stallworth are getting better and better. We don’t need to overpay for DL help like so many teams are doing right now.

It’s all business man. You have to understand the markets of players at certain positions and what they are worth and then plan accordingly to what the team needs vs what the budget allows based on needs of the team. He didnt fit that and he is gone. Ans he will missed dearly, but not enough for what he asks in payment.

I have given up on knowing worth. When players that I have never heard of and I watch games are getting 4 years and 45 million to play safety then I have no idea where the market is at.

Davenport played through an injury and still was the highest rated rookie pass rusher. He played well against the run and his pass rushing will
Improve.

This x10000000. The Eagles front 7 that season was scary deep. A four man rotation with 2 pro-bowlers backed up by a future potential pro-bowler and an average to above average DE is scary good depth.

One starting DE is getting up there in age.
One has played just a few games.
And the other DE is a free agent.

Hows that?

OP is a retard and I agree with everything you said except this. If you follow PFF on twitter they literally said hes the best run defender in the draft with the ability to develop into an elite pass rusher. Not only is Davenport already a stud he'll probably end up better than Khalil Mack if our coaches do their job. Just look at year 1 tape.
