So how does Sean think he’s the future in Nola?

I mean this is debatable...in terms of completion percentage, I think Winston had better stats than Tom coming in. The problem of course was the INTs but that was because they were always playing catch up with their garbage defense and constantly having to pass. With the defense and weapons they have now, Im sure Winston would’ve done pretty good.

They were usually playing catch up because he threw early INTs

He also had corrective eye surgery which one can only assume will be to his benefit. Anyone who thinks Winston isn't talented physically is just lying to themselves. The mental aspect is where he needs to work, and as far as we know he may very well be there already. I'm down to ride with Winston next season. I definitely don't want it to be Hill.

Meanwhile, the Saints have gone 8-1 without him the past couple seasons. If the team is bad next year, it's because of salary cap hell, not because Brees is gone.

This is probvably true for most of the QBs in the league though, nopt just Winston. And how much does Arians have to actually coach Brady? The only question we should be concerned with is does Winston have the tools to be a good QB and can a HOF offensive minded coach like Payton fix what's wrong with him and make him better.

That obviously doesn't look good at all, but an interception stat doesn't tell the story of what actually happened (in no way am I trying to defend a player throwing 30+ INT's.)

Causes for an interception:

Poor throw (probably 75% of this picks and inexcusable, though he was in a new offense)
Great play by defender
Tipped pass at the LOS
Receiver tip drill

I’ll say it: we had just as good, and maybe better, a shot of beating Tamp Bay last week if Jameis was starting.

The defense played well enough to win. We ran it pretty well.

The past three seasons, the Saints defense has been good enough to get to the SB. But when you have to get 6-7 first downs to score - no chunk plays - it is hard to win, especially in the playoffs. And that is what the Saints have become on offense: a team that has to methodically move the ball down field. A lot of third downs, which means a lot of chances for drives to stall.

Guess I missed Drews retirement speech and CSP's anointing of Winston as the starter

So too, the Saints will never make the Super Bowl with Winston as the starter.

This is definitely cause for concern. Sean is very big on momentum and if we’re playing from behind he gets a little crazy.

I also wonder if part of that is teams keying on something that bucs would do early and taking advantage of it. I’m not sure the cause but that’s certainly alarming.

The main reason is that Brady had the skins on the wall to be able to tell Arians that his offense sucked and needed to be changed to be successful. Once Brady started playing smarter without Arians' crap, they improved dramatically. Arians would not have listed to Winston.

What we know is that Drew with his high IQ couldn't lead us to the big game. That's not speculation, it's a fact.

ANOTHER FACT:
Drew scored one point higher on the Wonderlic than Winston.

Besides Tom Brady who makes it to the Super Bowl on the Bucs team in their first year?

*If you're whole take is we need Tom Brady (or someone better?) at QB then you live in a fantasy world.

Moronic measuring stick. Also, we don’t need Winston to be what Brady is for TB as presently constructed. If Winston cuts down on the turnovers by 30%, very feasible in our offense compared to what arians runs, we will win the division going away. Assuming he carries over the things he did well in TB.

There was some absurd stat about how Brady had more picks by week 9 this year than all of last year. This TB run is simply not a good measuring stick- they played the worst playoff team round 1, got historically lucky in terms of turnovers in the divisional round, and hung on for dear life against GB.
